Before attending medical school, Dr. Bordes earned a BA in integrative biology from the University of California, Berkeley. He completed translational anatomy research fellowships at Seattle Science Foundation, Swedish Hospital, and Tulane University School of Medicine under Dr. R. Shane Tubbs, the current Editor-in-Chief of Gray's Anatomy. During medical school, Dr. Bordes completed clerkships and sub-internships at Cleveland Clinic Florida and Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. After completing his general surgery residency. Dr. Bordes will become a cardiothoracic surgery fellow at the Texas Heart Institute/Baylor College of Medicine. He was hired as a staff cardiac surgeon at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, LA.
With over 100 research publications, Dr. Bordes has demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing medical knowledge. He is also an editor and author of two multidisciplinary textbooks, The Clinical Anatomy of the Vascular System and The Chest Wall. In recognition of his research contributions, he was awarded the CWIS-KLS Martin Resident Fellowship, a $25,000 grant supporting his work in chest wall injury outcomes research. His research has been published in multiple journals, including Cureus, the Journal of Thoracic Disease, and Cancers.
As an admissions coach, Dr. Bordes offers a strategic and well-informed perspective on the application and interview process, shaped by his direct involvement in admissions and advising roles. His approach emphasizes clarity, structure, and authenticity, helping applicants effectively communicate their experiences and stand out in competitive applicant pools. With a strong background in academic surgery and medical education, he supports applicants across all stages of the admissions journey. Students Dr. Bordes has coached have been accepted to LSU Health New Orleans School of Medicine, Tulane University School of Medicine, and St. George's University School of Medicine.
Beyond medicine, Dr. Bordes works part-time in the wine and viticulture industry for Bordes Wines, Sonoma Coast.
