Before attending the University of Connecticut School of Medicine on a full-tuition scholarship, Dr. Lewis graduated from Brown University with a BA in public health. After completing her undergraduate degree, she pursued additional training through the University of Connecticut, earning both a pre-medical post-baccalaureate certificate and a certificate in biomedical science. At UConn School of Medicine, Dr. Lewis earned a full scholarship and completed a certificate in social determinants of health alongside her MD. She served as an admissions interviewer for her medical school, gaining firsthand insight into how applications are evaluated and what makes candidates stand out.
Dr. Lewis was selected for the Harvard Medical School Visiting Clerkship Program in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Boston Children's Hospital, and she is a recipient of the American Psychiatric Association Foundation Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship. Her research interests span trauma-informed care, cultural psychiatry, mental health disparities, and the impact of discrimination and adversity on youth mental health, with contributions to academic initiatives through McLean Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital. She has also presented academic talks on pediatric delirium, cultural psychiatry, and mental health within underserved communities.
Throughout residency, Dr. Lewis gained experience in inpatient psychiatry, consultation-liaison psychiatry, veterans' mental health services, and forensic psychiatry. She has also demonstrated a strong commitment to leadership and mentorship, serving in national and institutional roles focused on wellness, education, advocacy, and diversity in medicine. Dr. Lewis will continue her training as a Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellow at Boston Children's Hospital and Harvard Medical School.
With 10 years of coaching experience, Dr. Lewis has helped applicants get accepted to medical schools in Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts. She believes in mentorship, community engagement, and using storytelling to promote mental health awareness and representation in medicine. Dr. Lewis is committed to helping aspiring physicians navigate the admissions process by drawing on her own experiences and her deep understanding of what medical schools value in their applicants.
