Before attending Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, Dr. Imbergamo graduated summa cum laude from Seton Hall University with a BS in biology. He also received the Pre-Health Guild Scholarship at Seton Hall. During medical school, he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society in recognition of his academic achievement, leadership, and commitment to service, and received the Endowed Academic Scholarship. He subsequently completed his orthopedic surgery training at MedStar Health Union Memorial Hospital in affiliation with Georgetown University School of Medicine.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Imbergamo has maintained a strong commitment to research and scholarship. He has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, with research interests spanning surgical education, fracture care, compressive neuropathies, and post-traumatic upper extremity reconstruction. His research has been published in The Journal of Hand Surgery, the Orthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine, the Journal of the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America, and many other journals.
During medical school, Dr. Imbergamo served on the admissions committee, where he evaluated applications and interviewed prospective medical students. This experience gives him a deep understanding of what admissions committees are looking for. As an admissions coach, Dr. Imbergamo takes a structured, milestone-driven approach to the application process. He works with students to build a clear timeline, set concrete benchmarks, and track progress at each stage of the process, all while staying flexible to adapt to each applicant's unique story and circumstances.
Dr. Imbergamo is passionate about mentorship because he understands the challenges applicants face when navigating the path to medicine. Over the course of his career, he has mentored students who have gone on to gain admission to highly competitive institutions across the country. He is committed to helping applicants build confidence, develop effective application strategies, and present themselves as well-rounded future physicians.
