Dr. Alexandra Kilinsky, Med School Admissions Consultant at Inspira Advantage

Dr. Kilinsky is a pediatric hospitalist, physician leader, and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. She has over a decade of admissions committee experience, including roles interviewing and evaluating hundreds of applicants across various stages of training at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and Northwell Health.

Before attending the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYITCOM), Dr. Kilinsky graduated from New York University with a BA in Russian and Slavic studies and Spanish. During medical school, Dr. Kilinsky was inducted into both Sigma Sigma Phi and Psi Sigma Alpha in recognition of her academic achievement and dedication to service. She went on to complete her pediatrics residency and pediatric hospital medicine fellowship at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, where she earned the Samuel Karelitz Award for Intern of the Year. She also completed an MS in health professions pedagogy and leadership from Hofstra University, with her graduate work focused on improving learner autonomy in clinical training.

During her time at Northwell, Dr. Kilinsky served on the Pediatric Residency Intern Recruitment Committee and the Pediatric Hospital Medicine Fellow Recruitment Committee. She later joined the University of Colorado School of Medicine, where she currently serves as Associate Medical Director of Pediatric Hospital Medicine and Lead of the Nocturnist Program, as well as an assistant professor. Dr. Kilinsky has served as a University of Colorado School of Medicine medical admissions interviewer, pediatric residency interviewer, and Pediatric Hospital Medicine Fellowship Application Review Committee member.

Dr. Kilinsky is a prolific scholar whose work spans quality improvement, provider well-being, preventive pediatrics, and competency-based education. She has authored multiple first- and senior-author peer-reviewed publications, including studies in Hospital Pediatrics, Pediatric Annals, and Current Opinion in Pediatrics, as well as textbook chapters in Nelson Textbook of Pediatrics and Pediatric Non-Adherence: A Solutions-based Approach. Her quality improvement study on promoting senior resident autonomy on family-centered rounds earned the Association of Pediatric Program Directors Quality Improvement Award. She has also received a Physician of the Year award and dedicated academic funding in recognition of her scholarship and innovation.

Dr. Kilinsky's approach to coaching is rooted in psychological safety, honest feedback, and helping applicants make meaning of their experiences rather than trying to fit a "perfect applicant" mold. She believes the strongest applications come from reflection, self-awareness, and a clear understanding of one's values, strengths, and goals. Dr. Kilinsky has worked extensively with learners at all levels through Clinical Competency Committees, individualized coaching plans, remediation support, and faculty workshops.

As an admissions coach, Dr. Kilinsky has extensive experience supporting learners across every stage of training, from pre-medical students to residents, fellows, and early-career faculty. She currently serves in a leadership role within one of the largest pediatric hospital medicine programs in the country, where she leads initiatives focused on clinical operations, physician well-being, and workforce sustainability. Her decade of experience interviewing applicants across multiple stages of medical training, combined with her experience serving on an admissions committee, gives her firsthand insight into what makes candidates stand out in a competitive process.

Dr. Kilinsky understands that applying to medical school can feel overwhelming and deeply personal, and she works collaboratively with applicants to make the process feel manageable through organization, reflection, goal-setting, and proactive planning. She is deeply invested in helping students recognize the value of their own stories and in ensuring that the next generation of physicians reflects the thoughtful, compassionate individuals medicine needs
