Medical School: Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine
Before attending the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Martin graduated from the University of Georgia on a full-ride merit scholarship, where she was a member of the UGA Georgettes and UGA Dance Dawgs athletic dance teams. While balancing a year-round student-athlete schedule, she pursued a rigorous pre-medical track that included active involvement in service and pre-health organizations, medical volunteering abroad, cutting-edge genetics research through a Center for Undergraduate Research Opportunities Research Assistantship, and work as a chemistry and biology peer learning assistant. She graduated from UGA as an Athletics Association Honor Roll Recipient with a double major in biology and psychology with a neuroscience emphasis.
Dr. Martin matriculated into the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine as a result of being awarded the Board of Trustees Scholarship & Dr. J. Steven Blake Scholars Society Recipient to cover medical school tuition and fees.
During medical school, Dr. Martin held numerous campus and national leadership positions, including serving as Vice President of the Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine Club, Director and Chairman of the Young Physicians Initiative annual Doctor for a Day Conference, and Regional Director of Camp Cardiac and Camp Neuro. She served as a campus peer tutor and anatomy teaching assistant for medical, physical therapy, and physician assistant students, and accumulated the most community service hours of any student across multiple academic years. As a student ambassador and admissions committee member within the PCOM Department of Admissions, Dr. Martin reviewed applications, conducted interviews, and participated in admissions decisions. She also developed a deep commitment to mentorship through leading pipeline and directing programs such as PCOM's Future Healthcare Scholars Program, Pre-Med Solutions Inc., and the Student National Medical Association Clinical Shadowing and Mentorship Program.
Dr. Martin graduated summa cum laude from medical school and was awarded the Mason W. Pressly Memorial Medal, the highest student honor bestowed upon a graduating student at PCOM, in recognition of outstanding achievement. She was inducted into Sigma Sigma Phi National Honorary Society for academic excellence and the Gold Humanism Honor Society for her commitment to humanistic patient care. Her scholarly portfolio includes over 65 research publications, posters, and presentations at local, regional, and national conferences, as well as an orthopedic surgery research fellowship at the Cooper Bone and Joint Institute. She has been featured by the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) and in regional media coverage for her academic and leadership accomplishments.
Dr. Martin matched into an orthopedic surgery residency at Jefferson Health, a top program training under surgeons at the world-renowned Rothman Orthopaedic Institute. She also played a significant role in selecting candidates for her residency program during the match application season and mentored several medical students in their journey toward matching into orthopedic residency. However, due to an unexpected clinical diagnosis, she made the difficult decision to switch to another specialty more suitable for her health challenges. Thus, Dr. Martin is now an incoming radiology resident at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, with the intent to pursue her new passion for academic musculoskeletal interventional radiology.
It is ultimately Dr. Martin's biggest dream to help as many students as possible reach the career destination of their choice. She takes a compassionate, goal-oriented, and student-specific approach to coaching, fostering a comfortable environment in which each advisee feels confident that they are working with someone wholly dedicated to their success.
