Medical School: University of Texas Southwestern Medical School
Amor is a recipient of the prestigious Rees Edgar Tulloss Presidential Award and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He also received the Faculty Award for Outstanding Achievement in Biochemistry. At Wittenberg, Amor balanced rigorous academics with leadership and athletics, serving on student senate for all four years, competing as an NCAA Division III tennis player, and working as a teaching assistant for beginner and intermediate organic chemistry courses. He tutored organic chemistry for three years and developed a reputation for breaking down complex biochemical concepts into clear, intuitive frameworks that students could apply under exam pressure.
Amor continued to build on his strong foundation in biochemistry, teaching, research, and strategic test preparation at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He served as a first-year human anatomy tutor, helping teach cohorts of approximately 240 medical students, alongside two other tutors. This role required designing 200+ slide PowerPoint decks every two weeks and leading virtual didactic sessions focused on high-yield anatomy and clinical integration. He also served on the student senate representing his cohort in institutional leadership, contributing to refinements in pre-clerkship clinical skills curricula, and helping lead student engagement initiatives.
Amor’s research experience further enhances his tutoring. He has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications in plastic surgery and otolaryngology (head and neck surgery), presented at national conferences, and received institutional travel awards. His work has been published in Otology & Neurotology, the International Journal of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology, and other prestigious publications. Amor’s ability to teach data analysis, figure interpretation, and scientific thinking translates directly to helping students succeed on research- and passage-heavy MCAT sections.
As an MCAT tutor, Amor’s greatest strength is his strategic approach to the exam. While he has deep mastery of biology/biochemistry and chemistry, what truly differentiates him is his ability to help students identify why they miss questions even when they “know the content.” He emphasizes logical frameworks, pattern recognition, and common MCAT pitfalls, teaching students how to dissect passages, anticipate traps, and refine their reasoning process. Many of the students he has worked with have seen significant score improvements, with some scoring as high as 520+ on the MCAT.
Amor’s passion for MCAT tutoring stems from his love of teaching and mentorship. Having benefited from outstanding mentors throughout his own journey to medicine, he finds genuine fulfillment in helping students gain confidence, clarity, and momentum during what can be an overwhelming process. He views MCAT preparation not just as content review, but as skill-building training for students to think efficiently, critically, and calmly under pressure.
