Undergrad: Johns Hopkins University
Medical School: Yale University School of Medicine
Laura worked at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health as a lab coordinator before starting her journey at medical school. While succeeding in her undergraduate studies, she also had several papers published in esteemed medical journals and led several service-based student groups. Laura’s unorthodox approach to undergrad as a pre-medical student included a large focus on the humanities and humanism in medicine, which led her to an interest in health justice with regard to access to primary care nationwide.
Laura is currently involved in research at Yale, where she is leading or involved in multiple projects on rural medicine and patients’ access to care. Her passion for medicine is driven by her desire to expand medical access and develop curriculum for medical students to become more comfortable with broader aspects of patient care amidst varied patient populations.
Laura draws on her own experiences in medical school and from working with a wide range of students to determine which methods are most effective, not what’s most popular. Whether students are coming in with low GPAs and test scores or starting from scratch, she helps them build a personalized roadmap to MCAT success that emphasizes confidence, competence, and long-term retention.
With over 10 years of experience, Laura’s tutoring style is individualized, strategic, and grounded in evidence-based learning. Students Laura tutors score 519 on average on the MCAT, with many achieving 520+ scores. Several students she has tutored have been accepted at top medical schools across the country, and she is passionate about helping others maximize their full potential as future medical students.
