During their time at the University of Colorado, Grant was recognized as one of 29 Outstanding Graduates in the College of Arts and Sciences out of approximately 8,000 students. They also received the Best Undergraduate Research Paper award at the Spanish and Portuguese Graduate Conference for research on postcolonialism in HIV studies in Puerto Rico. Grant’s academic achievements also include over 10 nationally competitive scholarships, such as the Critical Languages Scholarship, the Confucius Institute Scholarship, and the Caroline D. Bradley Scholarship.
Grant’s tutor experience is broad. They are an experienced MCAT tutor with a strong record of supporting students to achieve their score goals through tailored strategies, structured accountability, and clear, experience-based explanations. Grant’s teaching background includes private tutoring, serving as a teaching assistant for general chemistry I and II, and 10 years of tutoring across diverse student populations. Through the Petey Greene Program, Grant taught GED preparation, Spanish, and college literature to incarcerated students, deepening their commitment to meeting learners where they are and fostering growth through clear, patient instruction. As a NOLS field instructor, they lead month-long wilderness expeditions, teaching leadership, communication, risk management, and wilderness medicine through mountaineering, sea kayaking, rock climbing, and backpacking.
Grant’s strengths as an MCAT tutor include a dual focus on content mastery and test strategy, informed by their own top percentile score and extensive experience helping students improve motivation, overcome burnout, and manage test anxiety. They excel at breaking down complex topics and adapting instruction to each student’s learning style and goals. Grant has sat for standardized tests over 50 times: scoring highly on the SAT at age 8, earning a 35 on the ACT, and achieving top scores on 23 AP exams. Their deep familiarity with the psychology and mechanics of testing informs their practical, no-nonsense approach.
