Undergrad: McMaster University
Medical School: McMaster University Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine
Before entering medical school, Jasiya spent two years conducting research and presenting her work at a national scientific conference, including a presentation on dibenzothiophene-related oxidative stress and dyslipidemia in rat hepatocytes at the Society of Toxicology Canada Annual Symposium. Her research training includes thesis and research assistant work in the Holloway Lab within McMaster’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, as well as prior lab roles at Norgen Biotek and Thrombosis and Atherosclerosis Research Institute, where she worked with a team to understand the molecular mechanisms driving the development of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease in knockout murine models.
As a tutor, Jasiya is known for her strategic, structured approach. She excels at breaking down complex concepts into intuitive frameworks, teaching students how to think through questions “on the spot” rather than only memorizing content. Her tutoring approach emphasizes efficient reasoning, process‑of‑elimination strategies, and building durable understanding—strategies that consistently help students gain confidence and improve performance.
Jasiya’s greatest strengths as a counselor include her empathy, ability to meet students where they are, and talent for helping applicants articulate their stories with clarity and authenticity. She is passionate about coaching because she believes that strong mentorship can change the trajectory of a student’s journey. She finds deep fulfillment in helping applicants discover their strengths, navigate uncertainty, and present the best version of themselves in competitive admissions processes. Jasiya’s expertise is especially valuable for students retaking the MCAT or balancing exam preparation with full‑time work or school, an experience she understands firsthand, having studied for the MCAT while working full‑time and conducting research.
