Dr. Sedighim is a veterinarian who earned her DVM from the Western University of Health Sciences School of Veterinary Medicine. During vet school, she served as the president of the Veterinary Research Club, inviting students to explore their research interests, and acted as the treasurer of the Veterinary Behavior Club, managing the organization's finances. Sharona was also selected as the student representative for Merck Animal Health and VetPrep.

Dr. Sedighim has always been driven by an innate love for healthcare and animals, which sparked her interest in becoming a veterinarian. Her academic journey began at the University of California, San Diego, where she obtained her Bachelor's degree in physiology and neuroscience. During her time at UCSD, she studied laboratory animal medicine, gaining experience that would later shape her career path.

Sharona's commitment to animal welfare led her to work with the San Diego Humane Society, where she gained hands-on experience in small animal general practice and shelter work. These experiences not only fortified her resolve to become a veterinarian but also provided her with a comprehensive understanding of the various aspects of veterinary care. Throughout her academic journey, Dr. Sedighim remained deeply engaged in research, primarily focusing on cardiac and translational medicine. Her efforts have resulted in multiple publications and presentations.

From volunteering as a basketball coach for elementary students to guiding aspiring veterinary professionals in her research labs, she actively supports and nurtures the growth of those around her.
