After three years in full-time general practice, Dr. McDowell transitioned to relief veterinary work to foster continued growth, expand her clinical network, and achieve greater work-life flexibility. Working across multiple clinics has allowed her to collaborate with a wide range of veterinarians, technicians, and support staff, strengthening her clinical breadth and adaptability. Dr. McDowell currently works at a veterinary clinic that has been honored in the Grand Rapids Best of the West Awards for Veterinary Clinics. Her professional interests include minimizing patient anxiety in clinical settings, advancing preventive care, and supporting families through hospice and end-of-life decision-making.
As a veterinary admissions counselor, Dr. McDowell is committed to helping applicants discover their unique path, refine their application materials, and “keep the faith” even after setbacks such as a prior rejection. She excels at helping future veterinarians strengthen their candidacy, broaden their clinical exposure, and maintain confidence throughout the demanding application journey. She is especially dedicated to guiding students through challenges and empowering them to highlight their strengths and potential as applicants. Dr. McDowell looks forward to supporting aspiring veterinarians from all backgrounds and helping them enter the field as exceptional future colleagues.
