Dr. Acosta earned a BS in physics and general science from Portland State University and graduated with a DVM from the Oregon State University College of Veterinary Medicine. While at OSU, she was recognized with the Biomedical Research Program Award, the Academic Honor Award, and the Zoetis/AVMF Scholarship. Her research contributions include co-authored publications in two research articles on PubMed.

Dr. Acosta’s clinical background spans roles at Greenhill Humane Society, Companion Animal Clinic, and the University of Oregon’s Terrestrial Animal Comparative Medicine program. She’s also provided relief services at Eugene Spay and Neuter Clinic and worked as a Community Education Instructor at Lane County Community College, where she taught foundational veterinary skills to adult learners. Currently, Dr. Acosta practices telehealth medicine with JustAnswer, where she provides accessible, expert advice to clients while modeling adaptability and innovation for aspiring vets. 

Dr. Acosta brings over a decade of hands-on experience across clinical practice, shelter medicine, lab animal care, and telehealth, offering students a grounded, real-world perspective on what it takes to thrive in this evolving field. She is passionate about supporting aspiring veterinarians on their path to vet school, and offers valuable insight to help students navigate the admissions process with clarity and confidence. Her past roles have provided a real-world lens into the diverse, interdisciplinary challenges students will face in practice.
