With eight years of coaching and admissions experience, Dr. Kim has reviewed hundreds of applications and interviewed candidates as a member of the Ohio State University College Of Veterinary Medicine admissions committee. He has served as a senior advisor at the University of Louisville Pre-Veterinary Society and has collaborated with pre-veterinary program directors and vet school admissions teams nationwide.

Dr. Kim is a board-certified veterinarian, scientist, and educator with over a decade of experience spanning clinical medicine, veterinary public health, and higher education. He holds a BS in animal biology from the University of California, Davis, an MPH in veterinary public health, and a DVM from Ohio State University. He completed his comparative medicine residency at Colorado State University, one of the most respected programs in the field.

Dr. Kim is currently a clinical veterinarian and assistant professor at the University of Louisville, where he practices mixed animal and exotic animal medicine, treating patients ranging from dogs and cats to rabbits, ferrets, rodents, birds, and farm animals. Dr. Kim is also a scientist who has contributed to multiple peer-reviewed publications in areas including analgesia, antimicrobial resistance, and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). His research has appeared in leading journals.

Known for his approachable mentorship style and meticulous attention to detail, Dr. Kim works with students to build compelling applications that reflect their individuality, passion for animal health, and long-term goals. His mentorship has helped students gain admission to leading DVM programs, including UC Davis, Cornell, Ohio State, Colorado State, Auburn, Tuskegee, and LSU, among others. Students Dr. Kim has mentored have credited their success to his support, particularly with personal statement development and interview preparation.

As a first-generation college graduate and a champion of diversity in veterinary medicine, Dr. Kim is dedicated to providing the guidance, encouragement, and tools necessary for students to thrive in their pursuit of a DVM degree.
