Dr. Stonerook is a seasoned veterinary toxicologist, pharmacologist, and educator with over two decades of experience across research, academia, and clinical practice. He completed a BS in zoology before graduating with MS, DVM, and PhD degrees from Ohio State University. Dr. Stonerook is a Diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology (ABT) and an Associate Fellow of the American Academy of Veterinary Pharmacology and Therapeutics.
In academia, Dr. Stonerook served for seven years in various teaching roles at Lincoln Memorial University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, serving as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Adjunct Associate Professor. He has many years of experience teaching courses in physiology, pharmacology, and toxicology. Dr. Stonerook’s veterinary experience includes laboratory animal medicine, small animal medicine, exotic medicine, and spay/neuter clinics, while his research has focused on cardiovascular and respiratory pharmacology, inhalation delivery, infusion models, and the development of preclinical study equipment still in use industry-wide. Additionally, he has held roles in the development and testing of equipment and animal models currently in use in safety pharmacology studies throughout the industry.
Dr. Stonerook currently works as a consultant through his firm, Rook Scientific Services, advising on projects in laboratory animal medicine and drug development. He has participated in many roles during his career, including serving as an attending veterinarian, surgical veterinarian, Study Director for pharmaceutical safety pharmacology studies and general toxicology studies (GLP and non-GLP), and manager and director of research groups. He has also been involved in the production of IND packages.
