Rachel earned a BS in animal science from UC Davis and currently works as a treatment technician at the UC Davis Companion Exotic Animal Medicine and Surgery Service. She also instructs undergraduate students part-time at the Knights Landing One Health Center, where she spent nearly three years working as a veterinary assistant in college.

During college, her gap year, and her veterinary career, Rachel gained skills in livestock husbandry, wildlife rehabilitation and management, zookeeping, access to veterinary care, and biomedical and animal research through multiple roles.

Some of Rachel’s past experiences and roles include acting as a treatment technician at the California National Primate Research Center, as a zookeeper aide at the Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary, and as a wildlife rehabilitation and nursery intern and triage assistant at the Wildlife Care Association of Sacramento.

Rachel reflects on her experience applying to vet school and is passionate about making the process easier for new students. As a mentor, she excels in helping students identify and highlight their strengths in their applications.

Rachel understands that the admissions process can be daunting, and is dedicated to providing support and encouragement at every step. Rachel's enthusiasm for helping others succeed, combined with her extensive knowledge of the veterinary field, makes her an excellent mentor for anyone seeking to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.

As Rachel continues her veterinary journey, she aspires to become a board-certified zoological medicine and animal welfare veterinarian at a teaching hospital, where she can combine her passion for animal care with her love of teaching and mentoring.
