Paulina's academic journey began at the State University of New York at Geneseo, where she graduated with a BS in biology with a minor in business. She then went on to complete an MS in infectious disease and global health at Tufts University. Paulina graduated from Lock Haven Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania with a Master’s of health sciences in physician assistant studies before pursuing a doctoral degree in physician assistant studies from the University of Pittsburgh, graduating with a 4.0 GPA.
Throughout her pre-PA years, Paulina gained valuable clinical experience working as an ambulatory technologist at the University of Rochester Medical Center's Golisano Children's Hospital, clinical research coordinator for HIV/AIDS Prevention and Treatment at the University of Pittsburgh, and infection response team clinician at the University of Pittsburgh Department of Medicine at academic medical centers. These roles provided her with hands-on experience and a comprehensive understanding of patient care and clinical research. A passion for One Health led her to travel to various countries for medical mission work and research.
Paulina's clinical practice has encompassed general and colorectal surgery at Allegheny Health Network - Jefferson Hospital, as well as NIH and CDC-funded grant projects in infectious disease and quality improvement.
Drawing from her own experience as an immigrant and first-generation college student, Paulina is dedicated to helping others navigate the path to becoming healthcare professionals. Having been the recipient of thirteen honors and awards, including six scholarships and a stipend to fund her graduate education, she is well-equipped to assist applicants in crafting compelling essays and applications tailored to the PA admissions committee's expectations. Students she has coached have been accepted to PA programs at the University of Pittsburgh, Pace University, Lock Haven Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania, Tufts University, and others.
Paulina truly values the importance of mentorship and is honored to help guide future PAs toward their goals. She has given presentations on PA school admissions, including a webinar for the UNL Pre-PA Society, discussing application essentials, building a competitive profile, and mastering the interview process. As a mentor, Paulina adopts a holistic approach, focusing on getting to know each candidate, their aspirations, and strengths before delving into the details of the application process. She has successfully assisted many students, ranging from pre-health to PA school applicants. Paulina's commitment to personalized guidance ensures that each applicant can effectively present their story and strengths.
