Oresta holds a BS in biological sciences with a concentration in organismal physiology from Drexel University, where she was honored as the Student of the Year. She also received the EMT-B Volunteer of the Year Award and was a Liberty Scholar throughout her undergraduate studies. 

After college, Oresta earned a Master’s in physician assistant studies from Rutgers University, one of the nation’s top-ranked PA programs. She was awarded the prestigious National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Scholarship, which, upon graduation, allowed her to give back to an underserved health professional shortage area (HPSA) in Bronx, NY. She spent nearly four years practicing family medicine there,  deepening her commitment to community care and expanding her skill set in both dermatology and surgery. She also volunteered with Waves of Health on a medical mission trip to provide primary care to the remote pediatric and adult population of the Dominican Republic. 

Currently, Oresta serves as a dermatology PA-C at Metro Dermatology. Her previous roles include working as a school-based PA at Morris Heights Health Center and as a family medicine PA-C at Urban Health Plan. Alongside her clinical work, she precepts PA students and is actively involved in research, including co-authorship on a published cardioprotection study. 

Her mentorship journey began with her participation in the Physician Assistant Shadowing Program (PASSPoRT) at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Inspired by the value of early exposure and support, she launched a pre-PA blog to help students with application cycles, goal-setting, and confidence-building. She has helped numerous students achieve their dreams of getting into PA school and recognizes that guidance before attending PA school is important for student success. 

Oresta has worked with students from numerous backgrounds and tailors her approach to suit the diverse needs of applicants. As a consultant, Oresta prides herself on ensuring individuals are adequately prepared for the PA application process ahead of time to be strong applicants with competitive profiles. She recognizes the importance of mentorship, guidance, and a streamlined approach to help applicants become well-equipped on their journey in medicine while maintaining their individuality.

He entered medicine after a distinguished career as one of New York’s leading medical simulation educators and a former paramedic. With more than 10 years of experience designing, delivering, and directing high-stakes interprofessional simulation training across the major health systems, Joseph has trained thousands of clinicians, including physicians, nurses, PAs, respiratory therapists, and EMS providers, in crisis resource management, teamwork, and clinical decision-making under pressure. Recognizing the power of experiential learning, he joined Northwell Health’s Center for Learning and Innovation, rising quickly to Lead Simulation Faculty. 

Joseph has co-created and directed more than ten system-wide simulation programs, launched mobile simulation units, played a pivotal role in Northwell’s COVID-19 response training, and served as primary faculty for Simulation Instructor and Crisis Resource Management courses. As an adjunct faculty instructor at Hofstra Northwell School of Graduate Nursing and Physician Assistant Studies, he helped launch the graduate school and shaped core simulation-based learning objectives.

As a clinical preceptor at NewYork-Presbyterian’s PICU, one of the nation’s top pediatric ICUs, he serves as Lead Educator for rotating PA students and new clinicians, mentoring them in advanced critical care reasoning, procedural competence, and resilient professional identity formation. He also designs and facilitates in-situ simulations and high-fidelity workshops that strengthen team performance and patient safety across the children’s hospital. His enduring commitment to mentorship is rooted in the transformative guidance he received early in his career—motivation he now pays forward to future advanced practice providers.

As a counselor, Joseph’s strengths lie in his highly individualized, deeply analytical approach. Drawing on his background as a paramedic, simulation leader, and clinical preceptor, he helps students uncover authentic narratives, refine professional identity, and demonstrate clinical reasoning with clarity and confidence. He excels at quickly identifying strengths, blind spots, and opportunities for growth. 

Joseph is driven by a passion for high-performance clinical education, resilient professional identity formation, and bridging the gap between classroom learning and critical care practice. Janet's undergraduate education began at Berry College before she transferred to Northeastern University, where she earned a BS in behavioral neuroscience. At Northeastern, Janet was named to the Dean’s List and received the Northeastern Achievement Award and AmeriCorps Student Leaders in Service Award. She graduated from Emory with her dual PA/MPH degree in epidemiology, receiving Emory’s Health Sciences Scholarship and Letters of Commendation for Academic Performance. 

As a PA/MPH graduate, she has a deep understanding of the challenges and rewards of pursuing a career in the medical field. Before PA school, Janet obtained her clinical hours as a clinical research coordinator at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, MA, at The Jane Fonda Center at Emory University, and as a medical assistant in a gynecology practice and at a free health clinic.

During her time at Emory, Janet demonstrated her leadership skills by serving as class treasurer, a pre-PA mentor, and a voting member of the Allied Health Council. Her involvement in these roles not only deepened her own educational experience but also provided her with a detailed explanation of the qualities that make a successful PA candidate. After graduation, Janet worked at NewYork-Presbyterian Cornell as an OB Inpatient PA before joining Mount Sinai.

Since graduating from Emory, Janet has been thoroughly involved with individuals interested in a career as a PA, as well as those actively preparing for PA school applications and interviews. She understands the role that strong mentors and role models played in her own journey, and she strives to provide the same guidance and support to those who seek her counsel and advice.

When asked about her favorite part of mentoring pre-PAs, Janet cites the process of fine-tuning personal statements as a particularly rewarding experience. She recognizes that the personal statement represents the culmination of an applicant's journey to becoming a PA and finding their voice. Janet takes great pride in helping students craft compelling narratives that highlight their passion, experiences, and potential for success in the PA profession.

Janet's mentoring approach is rooted in her own experiences and successes. As a self-described "Type A organized individual," she leverages her strengths in time management and organization to develop schedules and checklists for every student. This structured approach helps them stay on track and ensures that no important aspect of the application process is overlooked.

However, Janet's mentorship goes beyond just practical guidance. She is deeply invested in understanding the heart behind each student's goal to become a PA. By providing a genuine connection and understanding their motivations, she is better equipped to help them find their voice and make it apparent in their applications and interviews. Students Janet has coached have gone on to pursue careers in various fields of medicine, a testament to her ability to provide tailored support and guidance.

With her experience as a writing center tutor and an essay reviewer throughout the years, Janet has honed her skills in helping others craft compelling narratives and present their best selves in written form.

Before attending PA school, Madison graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor’s in biology with a minor in Spanish. Madison’s strong background in mentoring and passion for helping others began in college, where she helped incoming students transition to the University of Texas and helped them excel academically. Since then, Madison has coached countless students ready to pursue their educational goals. 

Madison brings over a decade of coaching experience to her work with PA applicants. Her time serving as Interview Co-Chair at UT Southwestern has equipped her with a deep, insider understanding of what programs are truly looking for—knowledge she shares generously and strategically. Students Madison has coached have been accepted to top PA programs, including the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Emory University, Baylor College of Medicine, Rush University, and the University of Washington.

Madison takes a structured approach to the application process, breaking down each stage into clear, actionable steps that help students stay focused and organized from start to finish. At the same time, she’s known for her approachable, down-to-earth style, creating a space where students feel comfortable asking questions, reflecting on their journeys, and being honest about their goals. 

Madison is deeply invested in helping students recognize their unique strengths and potential. A proud graduate of Old Dominion University, Deniece graduated with a  BS in medical technology with a minor in fashion merchandising. She spent five years working as a certified clinical laboratory scientist specializing in microbiology, building a strong foundation in diagnostics, precision, and patient safety. Her scientific rigor and natural ability to connect with people led her to earn an MPA at EVMS. 

Currently practicing in multiple care settings across the U.S., Deniece brings real-world insight and energy to her role as an admissions coach, offering students clarity, connection, and strategy through every stage of the PA school application process. Deniece’s passion for coaching stems from her own journey into the profession, where mentorship made all the difference. Now, she’s paying it forward—helping the next generation of PAs walk boldly into their calling.

Deniece is deeply invested in shaping the future of medicine. A dedicated mentor and role model, she has supported countless aspiring and current PA students, many of whom have completed their programs. She has served on the EVMS admissions committee, led mock interviews, coached personal statement development, and spearheaded outreach to local HBCUs to raise awareness of the PA profession and expand the pipeline of underrepresented providers.

Deniece believes that representation isn’t just a talking point—it’s a mission. She believes in opening doors and holding them wide for others. Her mentorship empowers students from all backgrounds to navigate their path toward healthcare leadership with clarity and confidence.

Drawing on her experience as a practicing PA, Deniece guides pre-PA students through every stage of the application process. With a sharp eye for what makes a candidate stand out, she helps students craft competitive, authentic, and strategic applications.

Known for her warm, supportive approach, Deniece builds strong, personalized connections with every student, creating a coaching experience that’s both encouraging and results-driven. She’ll even make sure each student is the best-dressed at their interview. 

She has successfully mentored many applicants, including non-traditional students, career changers, re-applicants, and gap year students, equipping each with tailored tools and insights to elevate their candidacy. Her clinical background, mentorship mindset, and deep understanding of the PA admissions process make her a trusted and invaluable coach for future PAs.

After graduating from George Washington University with a degree in environmental studies, biology, and public health, Cady was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship, working as a cultural ambassador and English teacher in Kedah, Malaysia, through the US Department of State. At George Washington, she also received the Presidential Service Award and Scholarship. Before pursuing graduate healthcare education, Cady worked for Partners in Health, serving as a contact tracer mentor for the Community Tracing Collaborative in Boston, Massachusetts, and the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. 

Cady attended the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health, graduating with a Master of Health Science. Cady completed her pre-PA clinical hours in emergency medicine as an EMT and emergency room technician at a Level-One Trauma Center in Washington, D.C., providing 5,200 hours of clinical care. During this time, she also served as a teaching assistant to George Washington University undergraduate students and a research assistant to leading emergency medicine physicians and the GWU School of Medicine faculty. She co-authored a Journal of Emergency Medicine article on the topic of ventricular assist devices. 

Cady completed her PA training at Wake Forest University, where she acted as the student liaison for PAs for Global Health and Student Director-at-Large for the North Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants. Additionally, she was a member of the AAPA Student Board Leadership and Diversity Committee and received the Dean's Medical Excellence Scholarship and PA Annual Scholarship.

She attributes much of her success to the mentorship and guidance she received from her advisors, many of whom have decades of experience as PA school and medical school deans and professors. Her goal is to pay it forward by teaching a new generation of PA students. Cady has been helping pre-PA and graduate students polish admissions essays and navigate the application cycle for over five years. 

As an admissions coach, Cady is committed to providing knowledgeable information drawn from her professional and academic relationships and experiences. Her personalized approach has resulted in a 100% success rate, with all of her coached students receiving offers of admission to medical or PA school after working with her on personal statement editing. 

Cady is very passionate about coaching students from diverse backgrounds and working together to find their voice, tell their story, and compile a competitive, strategic application utilizing key insights from her own application and graduate school career. She strives to keep students organized, balancing application excellence with a proactive timeline to give students the highest chances of success possible. She is enthusiastic, well-connected, and finds immense joy in student success; she looks forward to the opportunity to work with pre-PAs to accomplish their most ambitious academic goals.

Monica’s professional background includes serving diverse patient populations in high-pressure clinical environments for more than 12 years as a PA. In addition to her clinical work, she is deeply passionate about mentoring aspiring PA students. She is eager to help aspiring PA students by sharing her journey, offering guidance, and modeling the dedication and resilience required to thrive in the profession. She currently works as a PA and Senior Clinical Director in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area.

Outside of her clinical and mentorship roles, Monica is passionate about healthcare advocacy and enjoys helping students recognize the broader impact they can have in the profession.

Rachel is a certified physician assistant with more than seven years of hands-on experience in emergency medicine and urgent care, having served in high-acuity environments across the Greater Atlanta area. From stabilizing critically ill patients to performing complex procedures in time-sensitive settings, Rachel has built a clinical career grounded in precision, poise, and patient-centered care.

Rachel holds a BS in exercise science and health education from Georgia College, where she completed the Leadership Certification Program and held leadership positions in Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She was inducted into numerous academic and service honor societies, including Omicron Delta Kappa, Gamma Beta Phi, Alpha Lambda Delta and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. During undergrad, she earned her CNA license and worked full time in a long-term acute care (LTAC) hospital, an experience that gave her early exposure to critical care medicine and multidisciplinary teamwork.

She earned her Master of medical science in physician assistant studies from Mercer University, where she distinguished herself as a student ambassador and New Student Admissions Chairman for the College of Health Professions. In this highly active admissions leadership role, Rachel coordinated and led student interview panels, reviewed applications, developed interview guidelines, conducted campus tours, and played a key part in class selection, personally mentoring many new students through the matriculation process.

Clinically, Rachel has practiced as a PA at Peachtree Immediate Care with Emory Healthcare Network, WellStreet Urgent Care with Piedmont Health System, Emory Saint Joseph’s Emergency Department, and WellStar Health System, where she has become known for her calm demeanor, strong procedural skills, and evidence-based approach to care. She holds active, unrestricted licenses in Georgia, Florida, and California, and is certified in DOT physicals and a broad spectrum of urgent care and emergency procedures.

Rachel’s coaching style is highly personalized and built on authentic connection. She believes in meeting students where they are to help them present the best versions of themselves, and is passionate about empowering students to navigate interviews and program requirements with clarity and confidence. Rachel combines strategic insight with warm encouragement, helping students confidently articulate their stories, refine their goals, and position themselves as strong candidates.

After graduating college, Harena gained patient care experience as an emergency room technician and emergency department unit coordinator at Brigham and Women's Hospital, where she spent several years immersed in fast-paced clinical environments and developed a deep understanding of what it takes to thrive in acute care settings. Harena started her PA career in an urgent care fellowship and transitioned into the emergency department after two years. She currently practices in emergency medicine, where she draws on her breadth of clinical training to evaluate and manage a wide range of acute presentations. 

Beyond clinical practice, Harena is deeply committed to community service. She has served on the board of the New American Association of Massachusetts, a nonprofit organization dedicated to refugee and immigrant integration, since 2018 and currently serves as President of the Board of Directors. Her long-standing involvement reflects a dedication to advocacy, civic engagement, and bridging communities.

Harena is passionate about meeting students where they are and helping them identify and articulate their individual strengths. Her experience across urgent care and emergency medicine gives her a well-rounded perspective on what PA programs and clinical teams value most.

Before attending the Yale School of Medicine, Seth graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno, where he earned a BS in molecular microbiology and immunology. His path to medicine began as a volunteer firefighter with his hometown fire department, an experience that sparked a desire to pursue a career in healthcare. He went on to work as an EMT and trauma technician at a Level II trauma center in northern Nevada, gaining hands-on experience before enrolling in PA school. His clinical experience spans pre-hospital emergency care, trauma services, and inpatient medicine, allowing him to work alongside interdisciplinary teams in high-acuity medical environments.

At Yale University, Seth’s master's thesis examined the effects of different crystalloid solutions on mortality in severe trauma patients, a project rooted in his prior emergency and trauma experience. After graduating with a Master of Medical Science, Seth joined Renown Health as an internal medicine nocturnist, where he specializes in caring for hospitalized patients with acute and emergent medical conditions during overnight inpatient admissions.

Seth's approach to mentorship is shaped by the guidance he received from mentors who helped him build a competitive application. He strives to provide the same level of support, offering practical guidance while creating an approachable environment that helps students feel confident throughout the process. He believes effective mentorship begins with understanding each applicant's unique background, experiences, and goals. By identifying and highlighting each student's strengths, Seth helps applicants develop compelling personal statements, polished resumes, and strong interview skills. His coaching is individualized and adaptable, with the goal of helping every student present the strongest and most authentic version of themselves to the programs they hope to join.

Before becoming a physician assistant, Mari gained valuable hands-on healthcare experience as an EMT and as an emergency department technician at Los Angeles Children’s Hospital. After graduating from PA school, she practiced in primary care and ENT settings. Her work in home-based primary care was particularly impactful, allowing her to improve access to care for geriatric and homebound patients who faced significant barriers to receiving treatment.

Mari’s greatest strengths as a mentor are her empathy, attention to detail, and ability to help applicants confidently tell their stories. She understands that applying to PA school can feel overwhelming, and she strives to create a supportive, encouraging environment where applicants feel challenged and empowered. Her coaching approach is individualized and collaborative, focusing not only on building a strong application but also on helping students recognize the unique experiences and strengths they bring to the profession. Jill earned a BA in communication from La Salle University and spent several years working in advertising and editing before realizing that her true passion was medicine. She went on to attend Drexel University’s PA program and later became the first PA employed in an outpatient internal medicine practice in South Philadelphia, where she worked for several years before transitioning to academia. Jill currently serves as a professor for Temple University’s Physician Assistant Program. She joined Temple University after serving more than 16 years as an assistant professor and Director of Didactic Education at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine’s (PCOM) PA program. Her diverse life experiences have shaped her unique perspective, strong work ethic, and natural ability to connect with others.

During her time at PCOM, Jill was deeply involved in admissions, serving as the Departmental Admissions Chair. She continues to play a significant role in the admissions process at Temple University, screening and interviewing applicants throughout the application cycle. As an educator, she has delivered lectures on a wide range of topics, including cardiology, women’s health, EENT, gastroenterology, neurology, nephrology, rheumatology, and genetics. She has also published three peer-reviewed articles in the Journal of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and presented a poster on her research involving the integration of mindfulness training into PA curricula.

As a counselor, Jill excels at helping students clarify their goals, articulate their strengths, and create compelling application materials. Drawing on extensive admissions experience, having evaluated 500 applications and interviewed more than 600 candidates, she offers students clear, strategic guidance rooted in firsthand knowledge of what distinguishes successful applicants. Jill remains committed to lifelong learning, reflective practice, and empowering future PAs to enter the profession as confident, compassionate clinicians.

Having faced cancer at 21, Beena brings a deeply empathetic approach to holistic healthcare, recognizing that healing encompasses both medical treatment and holistic well-being. She is a committed advocate for health equity, patient empowerment, and whole-person care.

As a counselor and mentor, Beena combines clinical experience with her passion for mentorship and storytelling to help aspiring clinicians craft authentic, compelling applications. With over six years of coaching experience and more than 100 students mentored, she guides students through the journey of the PA application process and interviews with clarity, confidence, and self-awareness. She has also contributed to admissions at Touro College by interviewing and evaluating applicants.

Today, Beena is the Founder of The Yoga Movement, where she integrates Eastern and Western healing approaches through education, coaching, workshops, and retreats. She continues to expand her work in trauma-informed care and is deeply committed to social impact, health equity, and supporting underserved communities.

Martin began his PA career working in the ICU and the emergency department during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. This reinforced his profound love for the profession and inspired him with the selfless dedication displayed by colleagues working on the frontlines. This period of unrelenting adversity instilled in him an inner strength and a perspective that life’s opportunities should be pursued fearlessly.

Martin is driven by a profound commitment to serving diverse communities across the healthcare spectrum. His dedication to education and mentorship is evident in his long-standing role as a clinical preceptor for PA students and his experience serving on the UW-Madison PA admissions committee. His clinical career is marked by its breadth and adaptability, spanning emergency medicine, occupational medicine, urgent care medicine, telehealth, and travel medicine. This varied experience has allowed him to deliver essential care in communities across Wisconsin and Illinois, treating patient populations ranging from farmers in rural clinics to Ukrainian refugees in urban centers. This same dedication to community service is demonstrated by his work as a volunteer provider at a free clinic in Milwaukee since graduation, ensuring access to essential healthcare for uninsured patients.

In addition to his clinical work, Martin is an educator and mentor. He serves as a medical educator at the Medical College of Wisconsin and as a clinical preceptor for PA students. His passion for advancing the PA profession is reflected in his role on the University of Wisconsin–Madison PA Program’s admissions committee, where he has helped evaluate and interview applicants. He also authored Becoming a PA-C: Your 10 Step Guide to America’s #1 Profession, sharing insights from his own journey to inspire aspiring physician assistants.

Martin’s leadership has been recognized through multiple honors, including the Paul S. Robison Leadership Award from the Wisconsin Academy of Physician Assistants and the Powers Knapp Scholarship from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He has also been published in the Wisconsin Medical Journal. Martin's specific career interests include healthcare innovation and technology, specifically in the areas of medical artificial intelligence and how it will create better quality, more accessible, and more cost-effective care for patients.

Christina graduated cum laude from the University of California, Berkeley, with a BA in sociology and earned membership in Phi Beta Kappa, The National Society of Leadership and Success, and the Dean’s List. Her education at UC Berkeley refined her ability to understand human behavior, social dynamics, and health disparities—insights that now shape her compassionate approach to both patient care and mentorship.

At MGH IHP, Christina graduated with academic honors and was inducted into the Pi Alpha National Honor Society. She was also awarded a merit scholarship upon admission in recognition of her exceptional academic and professional achievements. As a graduate assistant and admissions ambassador, Christina led informational sessions for applicants, reviewed application strategies, and mentored students navigating the PA school admissions process. Her mentorship extended beyond academic advising; she provided candid, personalized guidance to help students gain confidence and find authenticity in their professional journeys.

In her current role as a nationally-certified family medicine physician assistant at Gold Direct Care, Christina delivers comprehensive primary care within a direct care model that emphasizes accessibility, prevention, and personalized medicine. Her clinical background spans family medicine, internal medicine, dermatology, psychiatry, surgery, and women’s health, and she has trained at world-class institutions including Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and UCLA Health. Jay was awarded a merit scholarship at Fairfield to pursue a BS in molecular biology, and the Yale Club of New Haven Graduate Scholarship for PA school. He has contributed to clinical research both during undergrad and PA school, with work published in microPublication Biology and Yale University Library’s digital platform for scholarly publishing, EliScholar. Now a PA, Jay primarily encounters patients facing heart failure, heart attacks, and heart transplants.

Rebekah earned a BS in chemistry with a minor in public health from the University of South Carolina, where she graduated summa cum laude and was a member of the prestigious Honors College. Rebekah also received the Outstanding Senior Award and the Hiram and Lawanda Award for Excellence in Chemistry, among other accolades. 

After college, she attended the Charleston Southern University PA program, where she graduated with a perfect 4.0 GPA, earned the Academic Excellence Award, and was recognized as the top graduate in her class. Rebekah also worked as a student admissions ambassador at CSU. A nationally certified and clinically active PA, Rebekah practices in both pediatric surgery and internal medicine/hospitalist care at Prisma Health Children’s Hospital. Her dual-specialty background allows her to offer students a well-rounded perspective on the clinical pathways available within the PA profession. She also serves as a preceptor and clinical faculty mentor, working directly with pre-PA students, PA students, medical students, and residents.

Deeply committed to medical education and professional leadership, Rebekah is an area representative and board member for the South Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants. She is a published author in the Journal of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and has presented her clinical research at regional and national conferences. A passionate researcher, Rebekah has spent over a decade engaged in projects ranging from environmental chemistry to clinical pediatrics. Her recent work on restraint use in pediatric trauma patients received regional and national accolades, including the Podium Presentation Award at the Southeastern Trauma Symposium and the Injury Prevention Award from the Pediatric Trauma Society.

With experience in scholarship advising, medical outreach, and mission work, Rebekah is passionate about guiding pre-PA students through every step of the journey to PA school—from applications and interviews to clinical preparation and professional development.

Dr. Cunningham is a distinguished physician assistant and academic trailblazer whose professional journey exemplifies perseverance and excellence. Her educational journey began with a BS in biology from Hampton University before attending the City College University of New York’s PA program. Dr. Cunningham later went on to earn a DMSc from the Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions, where she maintained a 4.0 GPA. 

Along with her extensive work at NYU Langone, Dr. Cunningham was also the District Lead Advanced Practice Provider at Go Health Urgent Care for six years, and is the Founder and CEO of Millennial Healthcare Professional. 

Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Cunningham is deeply committed to mentorship and education. She contributed to the admissions process at City College as an interviewer, evaluating and interviewing applicants. Her mentorship experience spans 12 years, during which she has guided many students through various stages of their healthcare journeys. Students she’s worked with have gained acceptance to PA programs at Emory University, Rutgers University, Howard University, and Touro College, among others.

Dr. Cunningham's approach to mentorship is particularly impactful because of her personal journey as a first-generation college graduate who understands what it means to persevere against the odds. She is not just a practitioner but also an advocate for health equity and community service. She regularly speaks to underserved youth about careers in medicine, opening doors to opportunities many never knew existed. Her work has been recognized in the media, including a feature on the podcast Coach Hope Cook.

Dr. Cunningham's combination of clinical excellence, academic achievement, and heartfelt mentorship makes her an invaluable coach for aspiring healthcare professionals. Her commitment to whole-person wellness and authentic leadership continues to inspire those who work with her as they navigate their own paths in medicine.

Ashley's journey to becoming a PA began after working as a junior high and high school teacher. As a second-career applicant, she developed a deep understanding of the PA program admissions process, first as an applicant herself and later as a faculty member. She earned a BS in psychology from the University of Houston and an MMS in physician assistant studies from Wake Forest School of Medicine. She then graduated with a  Doctor of Medical Science in physician assistant education from the University of Lynchburg, which she completed with a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Ashley works in telemedicine with pAsync Telemedicine while serving as an Adjunct Clinical Coordinator at the Touro University California PA program. She has designed the admissions process from the ground up for two PA programs. She has held multiple leadership positions, including Director of Assessment at the High Point University PA program, Director of Didactic Education, Admissions Director at Arcadia University and Arkansas Colleges of Health Education, and similar roles at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. 

Her expertise in admissions is further evidenced by her publications, including her first work, authored as a second-year PA student, which examined regional and non-cognitive factors in the PA admissions process. Since then, Ashley has authored multiple publications on PA admissions and other topics pertinent to PA and MD/DO education.

Ashley has established herself as a leader in the PA profession, serving on the board of directors of the Physician Assistant Education Association (PAEA) and the Student Academy of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (SAAAPA). She was instrumental in creating the Future Educator Fellowship through PAEA, a competitive nationwide fellowship for PA students, and later returned to chair its steering committee. Her contributions to PA education extend to her teaching experience. She has taught almost every topic in master-level PA education and served as faculty at two DMSc programs and a DO program.

Her clinical experience includes working in emergency medicine at Trinity Mother Frances Emergency Department in Tyler, TX, and at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center Emergency Department and Critical Care/ICU. Ashley has been recognized for her contributions to the field with awards, including the PA Futures Scholarship from Wake Forest School of Medicine and the inaugural Paul S. Robinson Scholarship from the Society of Emergency Medicine PAs. She has also been sought after as a guest lecturer and curriculum designer for topics in hematology/oncology, emergency medicine, simulation, leadership, pathophysiology, and professional practice.

Ashley's approach to mentoring is characterized by her straightforward, transparent style and vast medical and admissions knowledge. She leverages her extensive admissions committee and teaching experience to ensure PA aspirants craft the most compelling applications possible. She has coached students who have gained acceptance to prestigious PA programs at Wake Forest, Duke, Emory, Baylor, Texas Tech, and many others. Her extensive experience and insights make her a valuable resource for aspiring PA students navigating the complex admissions process.

Annie's academic journey began at the University of Pittsburgh, where she graduated with a degree in nutrition science with a concentration in psychology and a certificate in conceptual foundations of medicine. Annie's passion for healthcare and mentoring is evident in her extensive involvement in various academic and professional activities. During college, she actively participated in numerous clubs and organizations, including Pitt's PA Club, Nutrition and Dietetics Club, and Gamma Sigma Sigma National Service Sorority, where she also served on the executive board. She was a teaching assistant for a nutrition course and became a voluntary mentor for other students wanting to pursue physician assistant studies.

Her work experience spans various healthcare settings, including roles as a certified nursing assistant in long-term care facilities, a patient care technician in multiple hospital units, a medical assistant in family medicine, and a personal care aide. This breadth of experience allows her to provide insights into different healthcare career paths and the realities of working in the field. 

As a counselor, Annie's strengths lie in her diverse experiences and ability to relate to students at different stages of their academic journey. Annie showed leadership as President of her cohort’s Physician Assistant Club and through her experience as a student representative for accreditation visits. Her experience on the Gannon University PA admissions committee provides her with insider knowledge into what PA programs expect from applicants. She is dedicated to inspiring and guiding the next generation of healthcare professionals. 

Dr. McKernan holds a Bachelor’s degree in health sciences and Master of physician assistant science from Gannon University, along with a Doctor of Medical Science degree from Shenandoah University. While at Gannon, Dr. McKernan was awarded the full-tuition President’s Scholarship, was named a Gannon Honors Scholar, received the Gannon Inspiration for the Next Generation Award, and was inducted into the Phi Alpha Honor Society. 

In addition to her leadership roles in multiple healthcare organizations, Dr. McKernan has served as a lecturer for the Ohio Association of PAs, Pennsylvania Society of PAs, Society of Dermatology PAs, and Ohio Society of Dermatology PAs. She also serves as the State Affiliate Liaison for the Society of Dermatology PAs and was recently published in the Journal of Dermatology PAs. 

Dr. McKernan’s passion for education and advocacy for the PA profession drives her enthusiasm to support prospective PAs in their graduate admissions journey. With her extensive experience in dermatology and leadership roles within professional organizations, she brings a wealth of knowledge and insight to her coaching. She takes a direct and holistic approach, ensuring each applicant is well-prepared and confident in their path to becoming a PA.

As a coach, Dr. McKernan excels at tailoring her counseling to meet the unique needs of each student. Leveraging her expertise in coaching public speaking, she helps applicants excel in interviews by refining their communication skills. During her undergraduate years, Kendal also worked part-time as a certified nursing assistant at a local nursing home, where she discovered her passion for geriatric care. 

Driven by her desire to make a meaningful impact in the lives of her patients, Kendal continued her studies at Indiana State University, graduating from the school’s PA program. Her exceptional performance and dedication led her to accept a position in inpatient neurology at Union Health shortly after graduation. In this role, Kendal provides compassionate medical expertise to patients, utilizing her knowledge and skills to improve their quality of life. Recognizing her potential for leadership and her commitment to excellence, her employer provided her with the opportunity to pursue a Master’s in healthcare administration at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, which she completed.

Alongside her clinical work, Kendal is passionate about mentoring current and prospective students in the PA field. Since her second year as a practicing PA, she has been a preceptor for Indiana State University, guiding and inspiring the next generation of healthcare professionals. Kendal has also had the privilege of mentoring several undergraduate students interested in the PA field, providing them with insider tips and hands-on experience through shadowing opportunities. 

Through her diverse experiences in teaching and patient care, Kendal has honed her ability to communicate complex information in a clear and accessible manner. As an admissions counselor, she draws upon her personal knowledge and academic success to guide students along their paths to becoming a PAs. Ken's journey in the medical field began at Chapman University on an academic scholarship, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in athletic training while also being a member of the football team. His passion for sports medicine led him to pursue a graduate assistant athletic trainer position at California State University, Fullerton upon graduation. There, he worked with the men's wrestling team for two seasons while simultaneously earning his MS in kinesiology with an emphasis on sports performance and sports psychology.

For six years, Ken worked as an assistant and eventually became the Director of Athletic Training at Servite High School. His experience in this role further solidified his desire to pursue a career as a PA. Ken made the decision to attend Marshall B. Ketchum University (MBKU) in Fullerton for his PA education. He graduated from MBKU with a PA certificate and an MMS. Following graduation, Ken worked in general orthopedic surgery for several years before joining his current practice, where he specializes in physical medicine and rehabilitation.

Throughout his career, Ken has demonstrated a strong commitment to mentoring and guiding aspiring PAs through the admissions process. As the Vice President of the Pre-PA Club at MBKU, he gained extensive experience editing essays and resumes and administering mock interviews. Ken's experience with applying to PA school has fueled his passion for helping others navigate the complex and competitive world of PA admissions. Students he has coached have been accepted to PA schools at Marshall B. Ketchum University, Western University, and Lipscomb University. 

Ken's approach to mentoring is centered on providing personalized guidance and support to each applicant. He takes the time to understand their strengths, experiences, and goals and works closely with them to develop a strong application that showcases their potential as future PAs. He tries to understand an applicant’s profile before diving into the counseling session. Then, he assesses their strengths and weaknesses and offers ways to improve their application. Ken is known to be very meticulous and firmly believes that every detail matters.

Prior to PA school, Anusha graduated summa cum laude from the University of Maryland College Park with a BS in public health science and a Spanish minor. She attended UMaryland on a full-ride Banneker Key Scholarship and was named a Senior Marshal for demonstrating high levels of academic excellence, community service, extracurricular involvement, and personal growth. Additionally, she explored intricate neural pathways as an undergraduate research assistant. 

Anusha’s journey as a PA leader began during her undergraduate years as President of the Pre-PA Society. In this role, she directly mentored hundreds of students on the PA school application process, hosted resume and CASPA workshops, and fostered connections with local PA programs to enrich opportunities for her peers. Anusha also actively championed student health initiatives as a member of the Student Health Advisory Board (SHAC), advocating for student wellness resources on campus.

Her primary clinical experiences came from being a medical assistant in internal medicine and pediatrics. Anusha was also a certified nursing assistant (CNA) at an assisted living facility and a physical therapist aide during her school breaks. Her commitment to global health manifested in volunteering abroad in Guatemala through the Alternative Breaks program, where she honed her Spanish proficiency. 

Anusha's greatest strength as a counselor is her extensive experience working with students and creating efficient application timelines. Her success in applying to 14 schools, culminating with interview invitations from each, attests to her knack for knowing exactly what admission committees are looking for and her ability to help students tailor their applications accordingly. Anusha understands how stressful applying to PA school can be and uses a personalized approach to allow applicants to navigate the process with confidence and clarity. 

Anusha approaches admissions counseling with an effort to get to know each student before offering them a personalized timeline and plan for PA school applications. She hopes to align each student’s personal expectations with her own recommendations when creating strategic goals. She diligently provides ongoing support throughout the entire application process. 

Apexa's passion for sports medicine began in high school when she shadowed her school's athletic trainer. She graduated with a Bachelor's degree in athletic training from the University of Georgia, gaining firsthand experience working with high-level student-athletes, many of whom became professionals. During her gap year, she worked at a private clinic, developing and implementing exercise rehabilitation programs for patients.

Apexa pursued a Master of medical science in physician assistant studies at Lincoln Memorial University and has been working in orthopedics and sports medicine ever since. She has experience in orthopedic surgery, treating athletes on the sidelines, and seeing patients in outpatient clinics. She has also worked at Resurgens Orthopedics, the largest multi-specialty orthopedic group in Georgia, and the Cedars Sinai Orthopedics Department, a top nationally-ranked hospital system in Los Angeles.

Apexa's knowledge and passion for medicine, combined with her experience as a coach, make her an ideal PA school admissions counselor. She genuinely enjoys guiding students in the right direction to help them achieve their academic goals.

Before pursuing a career in medicine, Ashley earned a BS in early childhood education and teaching from Georgia State University. She worked as a school administrator and elementary school teacher for two years, teaching first and third grade. Her decision to become a PA was inspired by a clinical mission trip to Kenya, where she witnessed healthcare disparities firsthand. Recognizing similar inequalities in America, she decided to return to school to pursue a career in medicine.

As a non-traditional student, Ashley started her medical journey with a post-baccalaureate premedical program at Washington University in St. Louis to fulfill prerequisite courses before applying to PA school. She was accepted by several top PA schools across the states and ultimately chose to attend Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions, where she was awarded a merit-based scholarship.

During her second year in PA school, Ashley participated in various clinical rotations, gaining experience in multiple demographics and medical settings. Additionally, she has participated in clinical volunteer work abroad in South America and Africa, focusing on community health and working with underserved populations.

As a practicing PA, Ashley has mentored several pre-PA students, allowing them to shadow her in the clinic. Her experience with the admissions process, combined with her previous professional and teaching experience, sets her apart as an experienced consultant for aspiring PAs.

Ashley’s greatest strengths as a consultant lie in her exceptional communication skills, keen attention to detail, strong organizational abilities, and sincere dedication to helping students succeed on their path to becoming physician associates. Isabelle's academic journey began at Florida State University, where she graduated with a degree in psychology with a minor in biology and chemistry. During her gap year, she gained valuable clinical experience as a medical scribe in a Trauma 1 emergency room and a medical assistant in a pediatric gastroenterology practice. She also completed her Master's in public health at Emory University with a 4.0 GPA.

Isabelle graduated summa cum laude from the Morehouse School of Medicine PA program and had the honor of giving the commencement speech. Isabelle also mentored several underclassmen during their journey as first-year PA students, demonstrating her commitment to supporting and guiding others. 

As a counselor, Isabelle is committed to being a guide for students as they embark on their application journey. Paulina's academic journey began at the State University of New York at Geneseo, where she graduated with a BS in biology with a minor in business. She then went on to complete an MS in infectious disease and global health at Tufts University. Paulina graduated from Lock Haven Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania with a Master’s of health sciences in physician assistant studies before pursuing a doctoral degree in physician assistant studies from the University of Pittsburgh, graduating with a 4.0 GPA. 

Throughout her pre-PA years, Paulina gained valuable clinical experience working as an ambulatory technologist at the University of Rochester Medical Center's Golisano Children's Hospital, clinical research coordinator for HIV/AIDS Prevention and Treatment at the University of Pittsburgh, and infection response team clinician at the University of Pittsburgh Department of Medicine at academic medical centers. These roles provided her with hands-on experience and a comprehensive understanding of patient care and clinical research. A passion for One Health led her to travel to various countries for medical mission work and research.

Paulina's clinical practice has encompassed general and colorectal surgery at Allegheny Health Network - Jefferson Hospital, as well as NIH and CDC-funded grant projects in infectious disease and quality improvement. 

Drawing from her own experience as an immigrant and first-generation college student, Paulina is dedicated to helping others navigate the path to becoming healthcare professionals. Having been the recipient of thirteen honors and awards, including six scholarships and a stipend to fund her graduate education, she is well-equipped to assist applicants in crafting compelling essays and applications tailored to the PA admissions committee's expectations. Students she has coached have been accepted to PA programs at the University of Pittsburgh, Pace University, Lock Haven Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania, Tufts University, and others.

Paulina truly values the importance of mentorship and is honored to help guide future PAs toward their goals. She has given presentations on PA school admissions, including a webinar for the UNL Pre-PA Society, discussing application essentials, building a competitive profile, and mastering the interview process. Upon completing high school, Dr. Whitworth chose to serve in the United States Air Force, marking the beginning of a transformative journey. Stationed at Misawa Air Base in Japan at just 19, he quickly learned to adapt, developing critical skills in independence and critical thinking. The 2011 catastrophic events in Japan, including a massive earthquake and subsequent tsunami, thrust him into emergency response roles, despite his primary duty in financial management. It was during this intense period that his interest in medical services was piqued through his interactions with a physician assistant, sparking a new career aspiration.

Motivated to further his education, Dr. Whitworth began taking classes at the University of Maryland Global Campus while still in Japan, earning an Associate’s Degree in general studies. His commitment to his education led him to transition from Active Duty to the Air National Guard, allowing him to enroll as a full-time student at Indiana State University. Here, he undertook a challenging curriculum as a biology major, balancing his military commitments and academics. Despite financial pressures and family responsibilities leading him to a full-time role as a budget analyst, Dr. Whitworth's resolve never faded. He completed his Bachelor's degree at Thomas Edison State University in natural sciences and mathematics and later pursued an MBA at Oakland City University, achieving a 4.0 GPA.

Dr. Whitworth's career trajectory took a significant turn when he joined the Occupational Health sector within the Air Force's Medical Group. This role, coupled with further technical training at the US Air Force’s School of Aerospace Medicine, solidified his desire to become a physician assistant. His academic and professional experiences culminated in his acceptance and subsequent graduation from Indiana University’s PA program, where he excelled and quickly passed his national certification exam. Afterward, he attended Butler University, graduating with a DMSc. 

Dr. Whitworth began his professional healthcare career at the Veterans Health Administration in Indianapolis, specializing in primary care. His profound interest in specialized medicine led him to further specialize in gastroenterology and hepatology at the VA Danville Illiana Healthcare System. Here, he not only applies his extensive training but also continues to impact patient lives positively.

Dr. Whitworth has experience mentoring multiple pre-PA applicants through platforms such as LinkedIn. He facilitated the onboarding of newly graduated PA primary care providers during the extensive Veterans Health Administration (VHA) hiring process. In his sessions, he uses the “whole person” concept, which focuses on individuality. He strives to develop a distinct approach to present each applicant's unique and diverse background. 

Reilly graduated from Penn State University with a degree in biobehavioral health with a minor in Spanish. During college, she gained experience working as an EMT and medical assistant at an urgent care facility, and traveled to Nicaragua on a medical brigade, providing medical care to a small community near Managua. She also studied abroad in Barcelona, broadening her cultural perspectives.

Reilly's passion for research was evident even during her undergraduate years, as she conducted investigations into the biological effects of child maltreatment and abuse. Additionally, she was heavily involved in Penn State's student-run philanthropy, raising funds for childhood cancer. As Pre-PA Club President, she organized meetings, educational presentations, and guest speakers to provide information regarding the requirements for applying to PA school, strategies for boosting applications, and general advice about the profession.
In addition to her work on the Gannon University PA admissions committee, Reilly was deeply involved in community service throughout her academic journey. While in PA school, she volunteered her time and language skills, translating at local free medical clinics and schools, ensuring that individuals from diverse backgrounds had access to quality healthcare services. Her outstanding performance in scholarship, leadership, and citizenship earned her induction into the Kappa Gamma Pi Honor Society, and she graduated with a 4.0 GPA. Her dedication to research was evident in her presentation on the "Importance of a Medical Home for Foster Youth" during the poster symposium at the Florida Academy of Physician Assistants conference. Additionally, Reilly collaborated with physical therapy students, researching and presenting on Congenital Muscular Torticollis, further showcasing her interdisciplinary approach to healthcare.
