Ken's journey in the medical field began at Chapman University on an academic scholarship, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in athletic training while also being a member of the football team. His passion for sports medicine led him to pursue a graduate assistant athletic trainer position at California State University, Fullerton upon graduation. There, he worked with the men's wrestling team for two seasons while simultaneously earning his MS in kinesiology with an emphasis on sports performance and sports psychology.
For six years, Ken worked as an assistant and eventually became the Director of Athletic Training at Servite High School. His experience in this role further solidified his desire to pursue a career as a PA. Ken made the decision to attend Marshall B. Ketchum University (MBKU) in Fullerton for his PA education. He graduated from MBKU with a PA certificate and an MMS. Following graduation, Ken worked in general orthopedic surgery for several years before joining his current practice, where he specializes in physical medicine and rehabilitation.
Throughout his career, Ken has demonstrated a strong commitment to mentoring and guiding aspiring PAs through the admissions process. As the Vice President of the Pre-PA Club at MBKU, he gained extensive experience editing essays and resumes and administering mock interviews. Ken's experience with applying to PA school has fueled his passion for helping others navigate the complex and competitive world of PA admissions. Students he has coached have been accepted to PA schools at Marshall B. Ketchum University, Western University, and Lipscomb University.
Ken's approach to mentoring is centered on providing personalized guidance and support to each applicant. He takes the time to understand their strengths, experiences, and goals and works closely with them to develop a strong application that showcases their potential as future PAs. He tries to understand an applicant’s profile before diving into the counseling session. Then, he assesses their strengths and weaknesses and offers ways to improve their application. Ken is known to be very meticulous and firmly believes that every detail matters.
