Haley earned a dual degree in biological science and chemistry and was presented the Lasell Book Award upon graduation. This award is chosen by faculty and only one student per major is honored for their dedication to academia, leadership, and passion for their field. Haley was also nominated and selected for the Summer Student Stipend Award, given to students showing promise in their respective fields.
During her undergraduate years, Haley served as the president of philanthropy in the Student Alumni Association, demonstrating her commitment to aiding underrepresented communities in the Greater Boston Area. She also pioneered programs at Lasell University for new students with special interests in biology and tutored for the GRE at no cost after achieving a remarkable score of 325.
Haley's practical experience in veterinary medicine began at Orange Veterinary Hospital in Connecticut, where she became a valued veterinary technician and student ambassador for United Veterinary Care. Her dedication and positive attitude in this fast-paced environment solidified her desire to become a small animal veterinarian.
After graduation, Haley took a gap year to improve her skills and broaden her experience. She gained additional expertise in anesthesiology and diagnostic protocols as a veterinary technician and volunteered at a horse rescue and rehabilitation center to gain experience with large animals.
Haley's academic journey led her to Long Island University College of Veterinary Medicine, where she thrived and developed close relationships with her professors, some of whom serve on the admissions committee and the NAVLE board. Her current research focuses on Feline Infectious Peritonitis, working in a laboratory setting with LIU's virologist to develop genome maps and diagnostic protocols.
Haley’s passion for mentorship and ability to recognize individual strengths make her an ideal guide for aspiring veterinary students. Haley's writing skills, honed from a young age, combined with her love for people's stories, enable her to help students craft compelling personal statements. She encourages students to embrace their true identities and struggles throughout the long and difficult opportunity of becoming a passionate veterinarian.
Haley's organizational skills and experience with the veterinary school application process position her as a valuable resource for prospective students. She is enthusiastic about mentorship and looks forward to working with impassioned pre-veterinary students looking to fulfill their dreams.
Beyond her academic and professional pursuits, Haley is an advocate for mental health awareness and a devoted pet parent to her Yorkshire Terrier, Chispita, and Scottish Fold, Sasha.
