Dr. Vixey Silva, Med School Admissions Consultant at Inspira Advantage

Dr. Silva is a dermatology resident at HCA Florida Largo Hospital who successfully matched into a Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology fellowship. She has reviewed approximately 1,000 applications and interviewed over 120 residency applicants throughout her residency training. Dr. Silva earned a DO from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and has authored 12 peer-reviewed publications in leading dermatology journals.

Before attending medical school, Dr. Silva earned a BS in human biology and nutritional sciences from Michigan State University, where she developed an early interest in research, mentorship, and advocacy. Throughout her training, Dr. Silva has developed an extensive academic portfolio with numerous peer-reviewed publications and podium presentations. Her work has been published in leading journals, including Dermatologic Surgery, the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology, and the International Journal of Women’s Dermatology. Her research interests include Mohs surgery outcomes, reconstructive techniques, procedural innovation, general dermatology, and sustainability in medicine. She also contributes educational writing to platforms such as DermWorld Directions in Residency and Next Steps in Dermatology.

Dr. Silva has built an impressive record of academic achievement and national recognition. She won 1st place at the Golden Scalpel Knowledge Bowl hosted by the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and 1st place at the National Dermatopathology Bowl at the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), in addition to a 3rd place finish at the National Dermoscopy Bowl at the AAD. She also contributes educational writing to platforms such as DermWorld Directions in Residency and Next Steps in Dermatology. 

Dr. Silva has demonstrated strong leadership throughout her training through her roles as an Advisory Council member for Derm In-Review, Chief Resident and Resident Education Liaison at HCA Florida Largo Hospital, and Vice President of the Student Osteopathic Surgical Association during medical school. She has also served as Race Director for the SPF 5K benefiting the Melanoma Research Foundation, helping raise over $20,000 in her first year directing the event.

As a counselor, Dr. Silva’s strengths include structured strategic planning for the application cycle, personal statement and essay editing, interview preparation, research guidance, and helping applicants develop cohesive narratives that highlight accomplishments and personal motivation. She brings extensive interview experience from both sides of the admissions process, having successfully navigated medical school, residency, and fellowship interviews while also serving as an interviewer for residency applicants. Dr. Silva is known for providing supportive, high-yield feedback while helping students feel confident, prepared, and competitive throughout the application process.
