Dr. Colman is a highly experienced veterinarian with over 25 years of experience in the field. He served on the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine admissions interview committee for three years, evaluating and interviewing many applicants. With 12 years of coaching experience, he has helped students get accepted to vet schools at the University of Florida, the University of Georgia, Cornell University, Tufts University, Ohio State University, and many other institutions.

Dr. Colman earned a BS degree in animal science and music, a DVM, and an MPH  from the University of Florida, making him a proud "triple Gator." During his veterinary education, Dr. Colman received numerous accolades, including the Dr. Paul Nicoletti Scholarship, JE Salisbury Scholarship, Intervet Schering Plough Internal Medicine Patient Care Award, Florida Veterinary Medical Association Scholarship, and the American College of Veterinary Medicine Clinical Excellence Award. He was also selected for a prestigious internship with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, Georgia.

Dr. Colman's professional journey began in his youth in South Florida, where he volunteered and worked in veterinary clinics throughout his formative years. Before veterinary school, he gained valuable experience at veterinary programs at the  University of Florida and Tufts University. His career spans over 12 years of clinical practice in both general and emergency veterinary medicine across Florida and Georgia, including positions as associate veterinarian at Countryside Animal Hospital, Lead Veterinarian at Pharr Road Animal Hospital, and currently as Medical Director at Veterinary Emergency Group in South Florida. As Medical Director, Dr. Colman mentors veterinary students, new veterinary graduates and leads a team of dedicated doctors and nurses.

With clinical interests in emergency medicine and surgery, point-of-care ultrasound, endoscopy, pain management, toxicology, and ophthalmology, Dr. Colman brings a comprehensive skill set to his practice. He has made several media appearances on The Weather Channel and WSB-TV Atlanta Channel 2, discussing topics such as seasonal allergies in pets, tick-related concerns, and COVID-19's impact on animals.

Dr. Colman is a firm believer in the human-animal bond and is known for his compassionate, detail-oriented approach to patient care. He values education and communication, empowering pet owners to make informed decisions during critical moments. His ability to balance clinical excellence with empathy defines his work both in and out of the ER.

As an admissions counselor, Dr. Colman brings a wealth of experience and an insider’s perspective, having served on the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine admissions interview committee for several years. His mentorship is characterized by a deep commitment to each student’s individuality.
