Dr. Mohanty’s academic focus centers on translational orthopedic spine research, particularly machine learning–based risk stratification and surgical outcome prediction in adult spinal deformity. He has coauthored more than 50 peer-reviewed manuscripts and national and international podium presentations across leading orthopedic and spine journals, including Clinical Spine Surgery, the Journal of Neurosurgery: Spine, and JOR Spine. His work has been recognized with the Rhodes Prize for Surgical Scholarship, a University of Pennsylvania nomination for the Dolores Zohrab Liebmann Fellowship, and multiple podium awards from the North American Spine Society and Scoliosis Research Society.
With years of admissions committee experience, Dr. Mohanty understands what top medical schools seek in students. Students that Dr. Mohanty has coached have been accepted to multiple BS/MD programs and medical schools, including the University of Pennsylvania, Rutgers University, Thomas Jefferson University, Yale University, Harvard University, UCLA, NYU, Boston University, Tufts University, and others.
In addition to academic medicine, Dr. Mohanty has held consulting roles with Regeneron Pharmaceuticals and RTW Investments, applying clinical and scientific expertise to biotechnology innovation and clinical trial optimization. He remains deeply invested in surgical education reform, mentorship in medicine, and leveraging data-driven tools to improve decision-making in both clinical care and the admissions process.
