Before attending medical school, Dr. Obiarinze attended Texas Woman’s University, where she graduated magna cum laude with a degree in biochemistry. She was the President of Iota Sigma Pi, an honor society for women in chemistry. During her junior year of college, Dr. Obiarinze was inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society. Dr. Obiarinze was a member of the Joint Admission Medical Program (JAMP), allowing her to spend summers mentored by medical school admissions committees at different medical centers in Texas. This experience helped her gain inside knowledge into the essential parts of a successful medical school applicant. Dr. Obiarinze also graduated from the University of North Texas Health Science Center with a Master’s degree in biomedical science.
At the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, Dr. Obiarinze was the Class President of the UTMB Student Caring Clowns organization. Dr. Obiarinze took pleasure in leading a cohort of her peers to achieve measurable goals. She participated heavily in research, and she earned many competitive scholarships and awards throughout her training—accolades that stem from her high level of organization, excellent time management, and discipline.
Dr. Obiarinze is passionate about coaching since she is the first doctor in her family—she understands what it means to dream big! Her upbringing has given her the propensity to always communicate with empathy and realism, and she is an adept problem-solver.
