Dr. Kulkarni is currently an anesthesiology resident at Brown University Health/Rhode Island Hospital and is finishing his intern year at Roger Williams Medical Center. As an undergraduate, he focused on clinical service and longitudinal research. He also volunteered as an Emergency Medical Responder with the University Emergency Medical Services Association (UEMSA), providing emergency care on campus. Dr. Kulkarni worked as a research assistant within the USF Health Taneja College of Pharmacy as well. In that role, he assisted in research involving novel drug delivery systems such as nanoparticles and thermoreversible gels for ocular diseases, including age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
During medical school, Dr. Kulkarni contributed to medical scholarship as a Student Editor for the Florida Medical Student Research Journal and participated in organizations including the Anesthesiology Interest Group. His academic work includes several publications and presentations on topics ranging from anesthetic considerations to urologic healthcare, with his work published in the International Journal of Impotence Research, Cureus, and Urology.
As a mentor, Dr. Kulkarni uses his admissions and recruitment background to help applicants build applications that highlight their unique identities—through sharper narrative structure, clear positioning of experiences, and interview readiness. Mentees he has worked with have earned acceptances to Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Nova Southeastern University Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine, Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM)–Carolinas Campus, and the University of South Florida Health Morsani College of Medicine.
