Before attending medical school, Dr. Gebregziabher graduated from Haverford College with a BS in chemistry. As a college student, he served as an undergraduate research assistant at Haverford College and Temple University. He also served as a research specialist at the University of Pennsylvania and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Gebregziabher’s scholarship includes co–co-authorship in high‑impact journals such as Nature and Nature Medicine and the Journal of Clinical Oncology, covering topics like ferroptosis in tumor‑associated neutrophils, global health, and oncology research.
Dr. Gebregziabher earned the competitive C.V. Starr full‑ride scholarship and was named a Koshland Integrated Natural Sciences Center Scholar during his undergraduate years. At Stanford School of Medicine, he received the prestigious full-ride John Arillaga Scholarship and participated as a Med Scholars, MLT, and Consortium Fellow. He also received the Apple Investigator Support grant.
Dr. Gebregziabher supports students through every step of the BS/MD application process, from application strategy to interview preparation and beyond. His experience navigating college and medical admissions as an international student from Ethiopia himself gives him a unique perspective on the process and how applicants can stand out.
Dr. Gebregziabher is passionate about providing inclusive, accessible mentorship. While he is passionate about helping all students realize their medical school dreams, he is especially motivated to support international students, students with academic challenges, re‑applicants, and those from first‑generation, underrepresented, or non‑traditional backgrounds.
