Dr. Winn holds a Bachelor’s degree in laboratory animal science from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and a Master's degree in animal science from Auburn University. She obtained her DVM from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in St. Kitts, completing her clinical year at The Ohio State University. Dr. Winn also completed residency training in Laboratory Animal Medicine (LAM) at the NYU-Regeneron postdoctoral training program. As a clinical veterinarian, she has experience with various species, including rodents, rabbits, ferrets, pigs, and non-human primates. Her background includes working with animal models used to study immunology, infectious disease, behavior, and neurobiology.
Dr. Winn enjoys training and educating staff with varying levels of experience in veterinary medicine. After graduating from veterinary school, she collaborated with Ross University to guide potential applicants and incoming students, offering advice on living abroad, navigating the application process, adjusting to life on St. Kitts, and managing a rigorous veterinary school schedule. She has also served on the NYU-Regeneron LAM Residency interview committee and currently interviews prospective veterinary technicians and managers. These experiences have equipped her to be an excellent admissions counselor.
Dr. Winn is passionate about guiding applicants through veterinary school admissions and lab animal medicine residency programs, helping them achieve their goals and build successful careers in veterinary medicine. As a coach, Dr. Winn excels at creating structured task timelines that anticipate potential delays, streamlining the complex application process. She invests time in understanding each student on a deeper level to address their concerns, identify their weaknesses, highlight their strengths, and add a bit of personality to their personal statements.
