Dr. Winn holds a Bachelor’s degree in laboratory animal science from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and a Master's degree in animal science from Auburn University. She graduated with a DVM from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in St. Kitts, completing her clinical year at Ohio State University. Dr. Winn also completed residency training in Laboratory Animal Medicine at the NYU-Regeneron postdoctoral training program. Additionally, she has spent two years working as a clinical veterinarian at Georgetown University. She has experience with various species, including rodents, rabbits, ferrets, pigs, and non-human primates. Her background includes working with animal models used to study immunology, infectious disease, behavior, and neurobiology.
Dr. Winn enjoys training and educating staff with varying levels of experience in veterinary medicine. After graduating from veterinary school, she collaborated with Ross University to guide potential applicants and incoming students, offering advice on living abroad, navigating the application process, adjusting to life in St. Kitts, and managing a rigorous veterinary school schedule. She has also served on the NYU-Regeneron LAM Residency interview committee and currently interviews prospective veterinary technicians and managers at Georgetown University. These experiences have equipped her to be an excellent admissions counselor.
Dr. Winn is passionate about guiding applicants through veterinary school admissions and lab animal medicine residency programs, helping them achieve their goals and build successful careers. As a coach, she excels at creating structured task timelines that anticipate potential delays, streamlining the complex application process. Dr. Winn is highly analytical, using evidence-based methods to help students refine their approach while remaining approachable and creating a relaxed, conversational atmosphere to ensure every student feels supported. She invests time in understanding each student on a deeper level to address their concerns, identify their weaknesses, and highlight their strengths.
