Before attending medical school, Dr. Horn completed an undergraduate degree in biotechnology from the University of Nebraska Omaha on the Chancellor’s Scholarship. Throughout his career, Dr. Horn has earned significant recognition for his academic and professional contributions. He was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society in medical school and was named a John H. Holliman Resident Scholar by the Group for Research in Pathology Education during residency.
Dr. Horn’s 35+ research abstracts and articles have been published in numerous prestigious journals, including the American Journal of Clinical Pathology, Modern Pathology, and Oncology. He was also named a finalist for the Best Lab Practice Abstract from the American Society of Clinical Pathology. Under his leadership, his laboratory was a national runner-up for Lab of the Year by the publication Medical Lab Observer.
In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Horn brings extensive leadership experience to his counseling practice. After residency, he practiced in a community setting where he was also the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments and College of American Pathologists Medical Director. He has served as an adjunct assistant professor at the University of Nebraska Medical Center for over 10 years.
Dr. Horn’s passion for teaching and mentoring medical students began during residency and has continued throughout his clinical career. Students he has coached have been accepted to the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Creighton University School of Medicine, and several DO schools. With years of mentorship experience, he has guided students through every stage of the application process. Dr. Horn’s coaching approach is grounded in individualized support, drawing on his deep knowledge of what admissions committees look for in competitive applicants.
