Dr. Mullikin began her journey toward becoming a physician at the University of California, Davis, earning a BS in cellular and molecular biology. Following graduation, she spent three years as a research coordinator at a community hospital, gaining hands-on experience in the healthcare field and solidifying her decision to pursue medicine. 

During her time at Duke, Dr. Mullikin developed a strong interest in plastic surgery and actively engaged in various leadership positions and research projects across multiple specialties.  Besides serving on the Duke School of Medicine admissions committee, Dr Mullikin served as the Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for the Student Body Council, reflecting her commitment to fostering inclusive and supportive academic environments.  

Recognizing the evolving responsibilities of physicians in today's healthcare landscape, Dr. Mullikin decided to simultaneously pursue an MBA at Duke's Fuqua School of Business, further improving her ability to navigate the complex intersection of medicine and business. She was the recipient of multiple scholarships during her educational journey, including the Bovender Family/HCA Minority Scholarship at Duke's Fuqua School of Business and both the Dean's Merit Scholarship and the Franklin and Louise Brown Medical Scholarship at Duke University School of Medicine.

Dr. Mullikin has demonstrated a strong commitment to leadership and innovation in healthcare. Her research contributions have been recognized with awards, including the Best of 2023 Winter Meeting Oral Podium Presentation from the American College of Academic Plastic Surgeons. Her diverse experiences, from research coordination to her involvement in various medical specialties, have given her a comprehensive understanding of the healthcare system and its challenges.

As the daughter of immigrants and the first person in her family to attend college, Dr. Mullikin personally experienced the challenges of navigating the medical school application process. This experience fueled her passion for making the process more accessible to students, a goal she actively pursued through her role on the admissions committee at her medical school. . Her combination of medical expertise, business acumen, and personal experiences position her as a great mentor to aspiring medical professionals. 

Dr. Akrobetu graduated with a 3.99 GPA from Davidson College, where he majored in biology and minored in chemistry. His outstanding academic performance and involvement in several research projects, including investigations into the genetics of mitochondrial morphology and glycopolymer scaffold synthesis, earned him grant funding to travel to the University of Dusseldorf in Germany for his research. His exceptional achievements in scientific research at the undergraduate level were recognized with the prestigious National Goldwater Scholarship.

After graduation, Dr. Akrobetu earned an MD from Duke University School of Medicine. During his time at Duke, he demonstrated strong leadership skills, serving as class president and spearheading an annual, year-long educational program for underprivileged high school students interested in medicine. His dedication to academic excellence and community engagement was evident in his medical school application, which received the highest possible rating from Davidson College in its internal review process.

As the first in his family to become a doctor, Dr. Akrobetu took it upon himself to learn the ins and outs of the medical school application process and is passionate about making medical school accessible for everyone, regardless of background. His commitment to equity and inclusion in medical education is a driving force behind his coaching success.

Dr. Akrobetu's admissions experience enables him to take a nuanced approach to holistic application review. He has a comprehensive understanding of how to strategically shape each facet of a student's application, positioning them as the most competitive candidate. His expertise in crafting compelling narratives, highlighting unique experiences, and showcasing academic and extracurricular achievements ensures that students stand out in the highly competitive medical school admissions process.

Dr. Harshbarger attended Brown University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience. She then spent two years working full-time in clinical research at Massachusetts General Hospital before attending medical school at the Duke University School of Medicine. While at Duke, she earned her MD and spent two years pursuing full-time studies at the Duke Fuqua School of Business, where she achieved Dean's List each semester to earn an MBA with a certificate in Health Sector Management and a concentration in Financial Statement Analysis. She graduated as the first doctor in her family and went on to match at her number one choice residency in Emergency Medicine at Harvard, where she now works as a senior resident physician in the Emergency Room.

Dr. Harshbarger's passion for mentorship and admissions has been a driving force throughout her academic career. Her exceptional skills and dedication have earned her national accolades in Collegiate Mock Trial and distinctions in public speaking, prose, and poetry. She has published in top scientific journals and worked in labs spanning from animal to human subjects, most notably at MIT's Picower Institute.

As a mentor, Dr. Harshbarger's greatest strength lies in her ability to draw from her diverse experiences and provide comprehensive guidance to her mentees. Her firsthand knowledge of the medical school admissions process, combined with her business acumen and research background, allows her to offer deep insights and strategies to help students navigate the competitive landscape of medical education.
