He also wasn’t sure which activities he should pursue to become a more competitive medical school applicant, or how to find paid or unpaid clinical experience positions.

How We Helped:

Reviewed Kevin’s full college transcript and identified his struggles with introductory biology

Helped him create a plan to raise his science GPA while ensuring he would take all medical school course requirements before applying

Provided 1:1 private MCAT tutoring that helped Kevin bridge weaknesses in the CARS section and achieve a 520+ score

Designed an extracurricular plan centered on pursuing meaningful clinical and leadership experiences

Helped Kevin secure employment as a medical scribe at UCSF, a volunteer position newborn cuddler at Benioff Children’s Hospitals, and become President of the UCSF American Medical Student Association

Enrolled Kevin in the Inspira Advantage Research and Publication program, leading to his work being published in the Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery

Marcus is a sophomore who decided to follow a pre-med track but wasn’t sure which courses he should take for medical school beyond a required introductory biology course. He wanted to ensure he would take the necessary courses and hone his skills for medical school.

How We Helped:

Reviewed Marcus’ college transcript to identify courses he’d already taken

Helped him create a class schedule for the next three years that would satisfy requirements at most major medical schools, including biology, chemistry, physics, and writing-intensive courses

Provided guidance on which majors would help him take all prerequisites while balancing his interests in humanities through a minor in Classical Studies

Provided 1:1 MCAT tutoring that would provide Marcus with a guaranteed 515+ score—his tutor’s guidance helped him work through organic chemistry questions and achieve a 523 on the exam

Worked with Marcus to build his analytical skills, helping him secure a part-time position in data entry at a med-tech company

Helped Marcus gain clinical experience as a medical assistant at Weill Cornell Medical College

Helped Marcus publish his research in the Journal of Neuroscience through the Inspira Medical Research Fellowship

‍Outcome:

Marcus was admitted to 19 of the 30 medical schools to which he applied. When he was waitlisted at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, we helped him craft a letter of intent that led to his acceptance!
