Undergrad: McMaster University
Medical School: Western University Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry
Yaser's academic background spans several areas of biomedical research, including microbiology, pediatric emergency medicine, anesthesiology, ophthalmology, and quality improvement. He has contributed to multiple manuscripts and presented research at academic conferences. At McMaster, he served as a teaching assistant in cellular and molecular biology and laboratory-based life sciences courses, where he led tutorials, taught hands-on concepts, and provided individualized feedback to students. He was also a two-time recipient of the McMaster University Provost's Honor Roll Medal, an award recognizing students who achieve a perfect GPA.
Yaser developed a passion for teaching during his undergraduate studies at McMaster University, where he mentored first-year university students and led course review sessions. He currently supports equity-deserving students applying to medical school through various programs. As an MCAT tutor, Yaser believes students learn best by actively working through practice questions rather than relying on passive review alone. His sessions focus on walking students through challenging passages, identifying patterns in how questions are written, and developing reliable reasoning strategies for unfamiliar problems. He helps students understand why an answer is correct and why alternative answers are wrong.
Yaser’s tutoring style is supportive, structured, and adaptable. He works with students to identify content gaps, improve timing, build confidence, and create realistic study plans around their schedules and goals. He is especially passionate about making the path to medicine feel more accessible for students who may not have had extensive mentorship or guidance.
