During college, Sophia held diverse research roles, including working at the Hess-Jinnah Lab at Emory on movement disorders and at the Mochly-Rosen Lab at Stanford University studying mitochondrial enzyme dysfunction. She also served as a Student-Athlete Advisory Board member and cross-country representative at Emory’s Oxford College.
Currently, Sophia works as a clinical research associate at the Buck Institute for Research on Aging, integrating biometric data and biospecimens to improve aging and personalized health assessments. Additionally, Sophia is a certified phlebotomy technician and coauthor of a peer-reviewed endocrine research abstract published in AACE Endocrine Practice. She has earned distinctions for both research and advocacy, including the Neolth Blue Star Award for student leadership and fundraising.
Sophia has tutored students individually and in groups across neuroscience courses, organic chemistry courses, and MCAT preparation, helping them achieve their academic goals. As an MCAT tutor, Sophia creates personalized, strategic study plans tailored to each student’s strengths. She emphasizes deep conceptual understanding over memorization, building confidence and resilience as students tackle challenging material. She is passionate about coaching because she knows the impact that guidance and encouragement can have on a student’s ability to succeed on the MCAT. Her approachable, supportive style makes learning effective, engaging, and enjoyable.
