Sojas’ journey in healthcare and science began with a deep commitment to understanding the complexities of human behavior and mental health. At Brown University, he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and completed an honors thesis focused on provider perspectives in gender-affirming care for youth. He gained experience in intensive exposure therapy working with children with selective mutism during a summer internship at Advanced Therapeutic Solutions for Anxiety, and as a psychiatric technician at the Arisa Health Crisis Stabilization Unit, serving unhoused individuals with severe mental illness near his hometown in Springdale, Arkansas. He also served as a crisis hotline operator for the Samaritans of Rhode Island. As a Harvard Medical School student, Sojas is honing his clinical skills across various levels of psychiatric care, including inpatient, child, and emergency psychiatry.
Throughout his academic career, Sojas has gained extensive experience in research and community-focused advocacy. As a student researcher at the Cambridge Health Alliance Center for Mindfulness & Compassion and the Brown University Mindfulness Center, he investigated the role of biomarkers in OCD and evaluated culturally adapted wellness programs in Indigenous communities, respectively.
Sojas prides himself on his ability to bridge complex science with public impact, having served as the Journal Editor-in-Chief for the International Youth Neuroscience Association and as the designer of an adolescent wellness curriculum for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston. In college, Sojas was also passionate about sexual education and advocacy, teaching comprehensive sex education to high schoolers and spearheading consent-focused workshops for incoming freshmen on his campus.
As an MCAT tutor, Sojas draws upon his rigorous training and experience as an educator to guide pre-med students through the preparation process. He is adept at helping students master complex concepts, navigate the nuances of test-taking strategy, and develop the stamina to sit through hours of reading passages and answering esoteric questions. What sets him apart is his holistic appreciation for each student's unique learning style and narrative. Sojas loves getting to know each student, breaking down high-stakes material into digestible concepts, and helping them reach their true academic potential.
