Mia Wichman, Private MCAT Tutor at Inspira Advantage

Mia graduated from Wesleyan University with a Bachelor of Arts in molecular biology and biochemistry, with minors in informatics and modeling and chemistry. She earned a 3.99 GPA and the Scott Biomedical Prize for excellence and interest in starting a career in academic or applied medicine. She has three years of tutoring expertise and has served as an Introduction to Biology tutor and a Bioinformatics Programming teaching assistant at Wesleyan.

During college, Mia was deeply involved in advocacy and health outreach. She served on the Wesleyan Women in Science Steering Committee, organizing career panels, research events, and lab tours with faculty. She also led the Wesleyan Harm Reduction Initiative, increasing campus access to harm reduction supplies and education in partnership with Students for Sensible Drug Policy and the local non-profit Middletown Harm Reduction Initiative. On Saturday mornings, she could be found outside the local soup kitchen with community social workers handing out harm reduction supplies.

Throughout her undergraduate years, Mia worked in Professor Michael Weir's lab studying ribosome translational regulation through molecular dynamics and ribosome profiling analysis. She contributed research published in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences. Her contributions in ribosome sequencing analysis provided vital wet lab validation to lab hypotheses on the inner workings of translational regulation. Mia currently works as an emergency medical technician, where she has deepened her commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care.

Prior to tutoring for the MCAT, Mia was a science summer camp educator, Introduction to Biology tutor, and a Bioinformatics Programming teaching assistant. She has found that students learn best with tangible test-taking strategies and the conceptual understanding to back them up. Rather than drilling rote memorization, she promotes active learning through engagement, consistency, and a deep love for diagrams. Mia understands students who have test-taking anxiety and how to transform their mindsets to one of growth, confidence, and a love of learning.
