Kevin Qian, Private MCAT Tutor at Inspira Advantage

Before attending the University of Illinois College of Medicine as part of a BS/MD program, Kevin graduated from the University of Illinois Chicago with a BS in biochemistry and a 4.0 GPA. He achieved a 525 on the MCAT, including perfect scores in the Chem/Phys and Bio/BioChem sections. Kevin has helped students score as high as 524 on the MCAT, with students he has coached achieving 16-point increases on average.

Kevin’s academic achievements reflect his strong foundation in the sciences. At the University of Illinois Chicago, he earned the Reitz Outstanding Biochemistry Graduate Award, the Kuhn Scholarship for Pre-Meds, and the Honors College Scholarship. He also conducted research in areas including empathy in AI therapy, neurodegeneration, and β-lactamase enzymology, experiences that strengthened his ability to analyze complex concepts and explain them in accessible ways.

As an MCAT tutor, Kevin specializes in helping students master the Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems and Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems sections. His background as a Peer Learning Assistant for Organic Chemistry and a Peer Leader for the general sciences helped him develop a teaching style rooted in clarity, patience, and practical application. Kevin helps students move beyond memorization by connecting challenging scientific concepts to medicine, research, and everyday life. With eight years of tutoring experience and 100+ students tutored, Kevin brings deep expertise to tutoring sessions with pre-meds.

Kevin’s tutoring approach emphasizes confidence-building, critical thinking, and sustainable study strategies tailored to each student’s learning style. Students he has tutored have earned acceptances to Stanford University, Harvard University, the University of Pennsylvania, Cornell, and others. He is especially passionate about mentoring aspiring physicians because they understand how demanding and personal the medical school journey can be.
