Hamza's tutoring experience spans nearly a decade, and he has instructed a wide range of learners from elementary school students through medical school trainees. He currently serves as a near-peer tutor for USMLE Step 1 preparation at Case Western Reserve University and has extensive experience helping students develop study strategies, build confidence, and master complex scientific concepts. Throughout his teaching career, he has worked with students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles, tailoring his approach to each individual's goals and challenges.
Hamza has also built an extensive research portfolio spanning neuroscience, hepatology, transplantation, cardiology, and rare disease. As Lead Data Scientist and Statistical Consultant at Elpida Therapeutics, he applies statistical modeling and data analysis to support the development of gene therapies for children with rare diseases. He has served as a Consultant Data Scientist at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and as a Development Innovation Fellow at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals as well. He has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and presented research at national and international conferences. His work has been published in the Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition, the Journal of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance, the American Journal of Transplantation, and other prestigious publications.
Hamza’s research has been recognized with multiple awards, including the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine's Magna Cum Laude Merit Award, a competitive distinction given to trainees whose abstracts rank in the top 15% of their research area, as well as the Pediatric Epilepsy Research Foundation's Excellence in Basic Neuroscience Research Award and a Poster of Distinction at the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases.
What sets Hamza apart as a tutor is his belief that success comes from understanding how to learn, not simply what to memorize. During his own MCAT preparation journey, he learned that meaningful progress is often invisible before it appears in scores. As a result, he focuses on helping students build sustainable study habits, track the right metrics, and develop confidence in their ability to improve over time. His sessions are highly individualized, balancing content mastery, critical thinking, test-taking strategy, and accountability.
Hamza is passionate about mentorship because he has personally experienced the impact that great teachers and mentors can have on a student's trajectory. Whether working through difficult science concepts, improving CARS performance, or creating long-term study plans, his goal is to ensure students feel supported, challenged, and capable of reaching ambitious goals.
