Gigi balanced rigorous coursework with extensive research and service throughout her college career. She has been engaged in global health initiatives, such as conducting CPR training for over 150 healthcare providers in Rwanda. She also served as a research assistant at Massachusetts General Hospital, investigating racial disparities in trauma care and presenting her findings at the National Academic Surgical Congress. Gigi was named a William Worrall Mayo Scholar by the Mayo Clinic and a Paliwal Club of 100 Scholar to recognize her for her exceptional STEM achievements. Currently, Gigi is a Fulbright Scholar in Dubai conducting genomic epidemiology research on antimicrobial resistance in collaboration with the Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences.
As a peer tutor and mentor, Gigi has supported diverse student populations, including student-athletes, first-generation college students, and international learners in navigating demanding courses like organic chemistry. She has also designed and led workshops, developing tailored academic resources to meet the needs of all learning styles.
Gigi’s approach to tutoring involves strengthening test-taking strategies and integrating scientific knowledge with critical reasoning. Her approach is highly personalized; she takes time to understand each student’s strengths, challenges, and goals, then crafts a plan that fits their unique needs. As a first-generation Sudanese-American student who has navigated the medical school admissions process, Gigi understands the challenges and pressures her students face when preparing for the MCAT. By blending patience with rigor, Gigi ensures that students see measurable score improvements and develop resilience and a lasting sense of self-belief. Students who work with Gigi can expect MCAT guidance and mentorship that supports them well beyond the exam into their medical education journey.
