At the University of Maryland, Ethan spent several years tutoring through the Guided Study Sessions program, a peer-led academic support initiative. There, Ethan received formal educational training and developed an active learning–centered approach to teaching. While in college, Ethan also worked as a tea shop manager and pianist at a restaurant. As a non-traditional medical school applicant himself, Ethan brings firsthand insight into what it takes to study for the MCAT while juggling responsibilities outside the classroom.
As a tutor, Ethan has honed the ability to meet each person where they are, recognizing that every student arrives with a different background, skill set, and challenges. Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all method, Ethan prioritizes understanding how each individual learns and tailors instruction accordingly.
One of Ethan's greatest strengths as a tutor is his ability to work backward from misunderstanding to build genuine mastery. Rather than simply telling students whether an answer is right or wrong, he focuses on how they arrived at a conclusion and uses that thought process as the foundation for deeper learning and long-term improvement. He also recognizes that MCAT preparation can feel overwhelming, and he makes a point of emphasizing sustainable study habits, critical thinking, and physical and mental wellness throughout the process. His goal is to empower students to approach the exam with clarity, confidence, and intention so they can perform at their highest level.
