Erika double majored in bioengineering and brain and cognitive science at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). She has 10 years of tutoring experience, including acting as a biology department tutor for three years, helping students understand complex scientific topics and raise exam scores.

Erika works in clinical neurosurgery research and is also a certified EMT. AT MIT, she gained extensive research experience in a variety of different fields, conducting cognitive science, molecular biology, and medical device research. She also volunteered in a program where she tutored Boston-area immigrants in order to help them prepare for the US Citizenship Exam.

Students who work with Erika have earned higher MCAT scores and have developed their skills in connecting concepts. She personally excelled at the Biochemical and Biological Foundations of Living Systems section as well as the Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior section of the MCAT.

Being involved in a wide range of fields has allowed Erika to approach problems from different angles. She brings this expertise and unique perspective to her tutoring to help students learn concepts in new ways. Erika also has experience tutoring ESL, which has given her a good understanding of how to explain concepts from different angles to best help students.

Outside of academics, Erika was a four-year member of the MIT Women's Track and Field team. Being a student-athlete has given her a valuable perspective on balancing time-intensive commitments with academics, and this is a strength in her tutoring strategy. She is skilled at helping students design effective study strategies that will maximize their learning in the amount of study time that they have.
