Dr. Yonathan Daniel, Med School Admissions Consultant at Inspira Advantage

Dr. Daniel is an internal medicine resident at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. He earned an MD from The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, where he served as a student interviewer for four years. He has helped students secure acceptances to medical schools at Northwestern University, George Washington University, the University of Central Florida, and other institutions. He also serves as a medical contributor to the ABC News Medical Unit.

Dr. Daniel earned a Bachelor of Science in physiology and neurobiology from the University of Maryland, College Park. A first-generation college student and the son of Ethiopian immigrants, Dr. Daniel came to medicine by way of public policy. He served as a White House intern and briefly worked in the United States Senate before medical school. That path shaped how he thinks about applications: he understands firsthand that sometimes, the most compelling candidates are the ones with the most conventional resumes, and he is at home working with applicants whose stories don’t follow a straight line.

During medical school, Dr. Daniel earned a merit scholarship and spent four years as an admissions interviewer, developing insight into how candidates are evaluated at the application review and interview stages. He has remained active in medical education and advocacy, currently serving as an Internal Medicine Delegate to the Committee of Interns and Residents, where he represents physicians in training and advocates for his colleagues.

Dr. Daniel's peer-reviewed research has been published in Nature Scientific Reports, World Neurosurgery, the Rhode Island Medical Journal, and Cureus. He also contributed a chapter on FDA new drug applications to the medical textbook Translational Pulmonology. Dr. Daniel is a medical contributor with the ABC News Medical Unit, where he has published eight bylined health stories and helped produce national broadcast segments for Good Morning America and ABC News Live. He is also the creator of POCUSTips, a free point-of-care ultrasound reference app for clinicians and trainees.

With six years of coaching experience, Dr. Daniel brings both recent firsthand knowledge and a genuine investment in each applicant's success. What sets him apart as a coach is how recently he has walked the road himself. Having navigated both medical school admissions and the residency match process, he knows what selection committees are actually reading for and can tell an applicant candidly when an essay is working and when it isn't.
