Dr. Zafar received the Dean’s Letter of Commendation for three consecutive years and was supported by several scholarships at Jacobs School of Medicine, including the Medical Alumni Scholarship and the Mezhir Research Scholarship. His clinical and academic interests include diagnostic and interventional radiology, and the rapidly evolving role of artificial intelligence in radiology education and practice.
Dr. Zafar has pursued diverse research experiences across several leading institutions, including Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. His work has explored cancer metabolism, dietary interventions in oncology, interventional radiology outcomes, and trainee perspectives on artificial intelligence, reflecting a broad and forward-thinking engagement with emerging trends in medicine. He has presented poster and abstract work at national and international conferences, underscoring his commitment to advancing clinical knowledge and educational innovation.
Dr. Zafar has also developed a long-standing passion for mentorship and community engagement. He has worked with students across a wide range of backgrounds, including refugee children, middle school students, and premedical trainees, supporting them through academic development, confidence building, and long-term goal setting. Across these roles, he has gained experience helping learners articulate their motivations, identify their strengths, and overcome academic or personal challenges. His admissions experience at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences further strengthened his understanding of how applicants can best position themselves for success, both through compelling written materials and thoughtful interview preparation.
