Before attending Tufts University School of Medicine, Dr. McKnight graduated from Brown University with a Bachelor of Science in biology. He also earned an MS in healthcare management from the University of Texas at Dallas. After earning an MD, Dr. McKnight completed his pediatric residency at the University of Chicago and went on to build a distinguished career spanning clinical medicine, healthcare administration, and medical education. He served as Medical Director of St. John Medical Center for 15 years, where he led the turnaround of the Pediatric Unit, strengthening patient care and fiscal accountability. He later served as Senior Medical Director at MultiPlan, where he led clinical teams focused on compliance and cost containment, and as Vice President of Value Consulting at Change Healthcare, where he provided clinical leadership to healthcare customers nationwide.
At Cleveland State University, Dr. McKnight works as Executive Director for the Pathways to Practice for Premedical & Predental Students Program. , In this role, he works closely with undergraduate students to place them into designated early assurance and acceptance pathways with six medical school partners, helping them navigate the academic and experiential milestones required for admission. His deep institutional knowledge of how medical schools evaluate candidates, and how early assurance pathways are reshaping the admissions landscape, gives him a distinctive vantage point as an admissions coach.
As a second-generation physician and the fourth physician in his immediate family, Dr. McKnight was immersed in the world of medicine from an early age, cultivating a deep understanding of the commitment and rigor the journey to medical school demands. He is committed to helping students develop competitive profiles and understand the full range of pathways available to them in pursuing a career in medicine. Dr. McKnight looks forward to helping students build the strongest possible candidacy for medical school.
