Dr. Kalajian grew up in Massachusetts and graduated cum laude from Boston University with an undergraduate degree in behavior and health science with a minor in biology. She continued her studies at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine, where she received her DMD. While at UConn, Dr. Kalajian's achievements earned her the Kohrman Award and the International College of Dentists Student Leadership Award. She was an active member of the American Student Dental Association (ASDA) chapter, where she served as the Vice President and President.
She was also an avid volunteer at events such as Give Kids a Smile and she lobbied on Capitol Hill on behalf of her patients and dental colleagues. Dr. Kalajian was also the Class Representative acting as the liaison between pre-doctoral students and other local ASDA members. She was recognized as the ASDA District 1 New England Delegate of the Year and was awarded the ASDA Award of Excellence. The Connecticut State Dental Association presented her with the Charles A. Vernale Award for her community involvement and support of public health interests.
Throughout her academic and professional journey, Dr. Kalajian has mastered time management skills, as evidenced by her numerous extracurricular accolades. She is passionate about helping students develop the organization and study skills necessary for academic success. Drawing from her own experiences, Dr. Kalajian understands that the path to becoming a dentist can be daunting, but she excels at breaking it down into manageable milestones and simplified tasks.
As a counselor, Dr. Kalajian has honed her ability to recognize the strengths and weaknesses of her students, allowing her to tailor her tutoring style to their individual academic needs and goals. Her patience, understanding, and firsthand experience of the challenges faced by dental students make her an invaluable resource for those seeking guidance and support. Dr. Kalajian is passionate about instilling a similar excitement for dentistry and academia within her students, helping them to develop the skills and confidence necessary to succeed in their chosen field.
