Dr. Offenbacher’s work has been recognized through multiple distinctions, including induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha Society, the American Society of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Young Investigator Award, the Pediatric Research Day Oral Presentation Award at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore, and the Best Teaching Fellow Award. She also earned membership in the Leo M. Davidoff Society for excellence in teaching and was recently recognized with the Jewish Orthodox Women’s Medical Association Mentorship Award.
Dr. Offenbacher’s professional experience spans clinical practice, academic medicine, and ongoing research activities. She has over 20+ publications and has had her work showcased in multiple prestigious journals, including Clinical Cancer Research, Pediatric Blood & Cancer, and the Journal of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. Her research centers on cancer metabolism, metastasis, and the tumor microenvironment, with particular emphasis on osteosarcoma and Ewing sarcoma. Dr. Offenbacher has led multiple funded translational projects and serves as Principal Investigator on studies aimed at moving promising therapies from bench to bedside.
As a research mentor, Dr. Offenbacher has experience guiding researchers through topics in cancer, tumor, cell, stem cell, and developmental biology. She also has mentorship experience in research projects related to behavioural and social sciences in health, health services and outcomes, and public health. Students who Dr. Offenbacher has coached have been accepted to prestigious programs at Yale University, Cornell University, Columbia University, the University of California, San Francisco, the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and Memorial Sloan Kettering.
Dr. Offenbacher is deeply committed to coaching and enjoys guiding students through all stages of research—from hypothesis generation and experimental design to data analysis and scientific writing—while helping them develop as thoughtful, independent investigators.
