Dr. Toubat’s basic science work has focused on studying mechanisms of congenital and acquired cardiovascular disease, while his clinical research examines the impact of surgical therapies for coronary, valvular, and end-stage heart disease. His publication record reflects a substantial body of scholarship, with more than 60 peer-reviewed publications, with research published in The Annals of Cardiothoracic Surgery, the Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, the Journal of the American Heart Association, and many others. e. Dr. Toubat has been recognized with honors including the National Institutes of Health NHLBI F30 Predoctoral Fellowship Award, election to Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, the Gold Humanism Award, and the STS Looking to the Future Scholarship.
Dr. Toubat is passionate about mentorship and has spent 10 years coaching and mentoring students. He has spent many years involved with the American Physician Scientists Association, developing advocacy and mentorship programs for the next generation of physician-scientists. Drawing on five years of medical school admissions committee experience, Dr. Toubat understands what top programs are looking for and how to position applicants as the best possible candidates.
