Before attending VCOM-Auburn, Dr. Miller graduated from Alabama State University on a Presidential Scholarship with a BS in biology-prehealth and a minor in chemistry, earning honors distinction. Her path to medicine began in a medical magnet dual enrollment program, where she trained as an EMT student and discovered her passion for patient care. During college, Dr. Miller held leadership roles including President of the Honors College, Secretary of the Biomedical Club, and Secretary of Circle K International. She was recognized as Student of the Year and named a Tylenol Future Care Scholar. Dr. Miller completed research internships at the University of Miami, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and the University of North Texas Health Science Center, and she was selected by the U.S. Department of Education as a White House Student Ambassador. Dr. Miller also led volunteer projects locally and abroad, completing medical mission trips in multiple countries.
At VCOM-Auburn, Dr. Miller became actively involved in the Student National Medical Association (SNMA) as a mentor and the Lead Community Service Liaison for the Southern Region. She hosted application readiness seminars, led an MCAT bootcamp, and conducted mock interviews for aspiring medical students. Her commitment to emergency medicine led to her selection as a Society of Academic Emergency Medicine (SAEM) Medical Student Ambassador, and her dedication to public health earned her recognition as a Paul Ambrose Scholar. Dr. Miller also contributed to research during medical school, co-authoring publications in journals including Frontiers in Microbiology.
After graduating from VCOM-Auburn, Dr. Miller completed her emergency medicine residency at the University of Connecticut, where she served as Resident Fellow Forum Liaison and advocated for over 800 residents. She received a Community Service Award from the Capital Area Health Consortium and attended many conferences as a resident representative, hosting medical student mock interview sessions, managing pre-residency boot camps, and speaking on application readiness panels.
Dr. Miller went on to complete a fellowship in emergency medical services at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where she became the Assistant Clinical Professor of Emergency Medicine. As a professor, Dr. Miller teaches healthcare students clinically and in classroom settings.
Throughout her career, Dr. Miller has contributed to cutting-edge research, beginning as a teaching assistant and lab assistant in college. Her work has been published in POCUS Journal, Frontiers in Microbiology, and Molecular Neurodegeneration. Dr. Miller currently serves as a peer reviewer for the Visual Journal of Emergency Medicine (VISJ).
As a coach, Dr. Miller describes her approach as enthusiastic, encouraging, and diligent. She has experience supporting students through medical school, residency, fellowship, and internship application processes. Dr. Miller knows what it takes to build a strong application and draws on her extensive, multifaceted background to support students. She believes in accountability, meeting students where they are, and taking a comprehensive view of a student's application materials. Dr. Miller looks forward to working with students to help them achieve their academic goals.
