Dr. Seger completed her DVM and PhD at Kansas State University. During her graduate programs, she completed externships at the Kansas Department of Agriculture and the Epidemiology Elective Program through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. She currently is an Oak Ridge Institute of Science and Education Postdoctoral fellow working at the US Department of Agriculture studying animal diseases including Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies, SARS-CoV-2, and Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza.

Dr. Seger pursued her lifelong dream of becoming a veterinary researcher at Kansas State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in animal sciences and industry with a pre-veterinary science option and an equine certificate. She was accepted into Kansas State’s Early Admissions program to veterinary school during her undergraduate studies. While pursuing her DVM, she was accepted into a dual-degree program and completed her PhD in diagnostic medicine and pathobiology. Through her studies, Dr. Seger has developed a passion for making meaningful research impacts on animal diseases of human importance.   

In addition to her research interests, Dr. Seger is passionate about assisting individuals on their journeys to veterinary school, graduate school, or a dual degree program. Her approach to admissions counseling is holistic, taking into account all aspects of a student's story and where they see themselves in a career setting. She believes that each student has unique experiences that have shaped their path and given them the skills they need to succeed as future veterinarians.

As a coach, Dr. Seger excels at helping students craft stand-out personal statements and prepare for interviews. She uses her unique experiences and insight to help students find their own perfect match in a veterinary program.
