Prior to her dual-degree training, Dr. Ladha completed a Bachelor of Science in anatomy and cell biology at McGill University. She then completed a Master of Science in molecular microbiology and immunology at Johns Hopkins University, where she was inducted into the Delta Omega Public Health Honor Society.
Dr. Ladha’s doctoral research focused on cardiomyocyte biology using genomic and proteomic approaches, and her academic and research career is distinguished by extensive experience in cardiovascular biology and human genetics. Dr. Ladha’s work has led to numerous peer-reviewed publications in leading journals, including Circulation, Cell Reports, and the Journal of the American Heart Association. She has contributed to research spanning functional genomics, cardiomyocyte biology, and congenital heart disease, with ongoing work focused on characterizing genetic variants and their role in cardiac disease. Her research has been supported by competitive funding, including an American Heart Association Predoctoral Fellowship. Dr. Ladha was also inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society during medical school, recognizing excellence in clinical care, leadership, and scholarship.
Dr. Ladha brings extensive experience in admissions and mentorship. In addition to her experience serving on the University of Connecticut School of Medicine’s MD and MD/PhD admissions committees, she has also mentored undergraduate trainees pursuing MD and MD/PhD pathways, providing guidance on school selection, application strategy, personal statements, and interview preparation. Dr. Ladha also taught advanced genetics and stem cell biology courses at the University of Connecticut and has been actively involved in academic service and mentorship initiatives across institutions.
As an admissions advisor, Dr. Ladha’s greatest strength lies in helping applicants craft clear, compelling narratives that align their academic experiences, research interests, and long-term goals. Dr. Ladha has helped students earn acceptance to MD and MD/PhD programs at Brown University, Georgetown University, Rutgers University, the University of Connecticut, and Hofstra University. Drawing on her experience navigating the MD/PhD pathway and competitive residency training, she offers practical insight into what distinguishes successful applicants.
Dr. Ladha is particularly passionate about mentoring future physician-scientists and supporting applicants interested in research-intensive careers. She is known for her thoughtful, detail-oriented feedback and ability to help students translate complex experiences into cohesive, impactful applications. Her goal is to help each applicant approach the admissions process with clarity, confidence, and a strong sense of purpose.
