Dr. Delaram Mirzinia, Med School Admissions Consultant at Inspira Advantage

Dr. Mirzania is a comprehensive ophthalmologist with extensive experience in medical education leadership and admissions advising. She earned an MD from Duke University School of Medicine, where she served as a medical student representative on the Dean’s Advisory Council and worked closely with the admissions office as a liaison. She completed her residency at the University of Michigan Kellogg Eye Center, where she served on the residency selection committee.

Before attending medical school, Dr. Mirzania graduated from the University of Maryland with a BS in psychology. At Duke University School of Medicine, she was involved in numerous activities and societies, serving as Co-President of the American Women’s Association, Co-Chair of the Ophthalmology Interest Group, and Class Representative for the Association of Women Surgeons. She was also the recipient of the Medical School Faculty Wives Medical School and Queen Effat Scholarships. 

At the University of Michigan Kellogg Eye Center, Dr. Mirzina served as Administrative Chief Resident during her final year. In this role, she was actively involved in resident recruitment and selection, including application review, interviews, and ranking discussions as part of the resident selection committee. She was recognized for her commitment to education and mentorship with the Paul R. Walker Resident Teaching Award.

As a clinician and researcher, Dr. Mirzania’s interests include preventative eye care, chronic eye disease management, and the ocular manifestations of systemic disease. She has authored 23 peer-reviewed publications in ophthalmology, with research spanning glaucoma, retinal disease, oculoplastics, and AI applications in eye care. Her research has been published in prestigious journals such as Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, Cornea, the Journal of Glaucoma, and others. 

Dr. Mirzinia was recognized with multiple awards and recognitions as an ophthalmology resident. She received the Making a Difference Award, Michigan Ophthalmology Trainee Career Development Award, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) Resident Excellence Award, and the George Slocum Resident Research Award. Dr. Mirzania’s work has been supported by numerous grants, including the ASCRS Young Eye Surgeons International Service Grant to support community-based healthcare delivery work in India.

As an admissions consultant, Dr. Mirzania brings a strategic yet deeply personal approach to advising. She helps applicants craft authentic narratives, clarify their professional goals, and present their experiences with precision and confidence, drawing on her combined perspectives as a former admissions liaison, Chief Resident, interviewer, and award-winning educator.

She has mentored applicants accepted to medical schools and residency programs, including the University of Southern California, Mount Sinai, Northwestern University, Georgetown University, Wake Forest University, and Albany Medical Center, among others.
