Before attending medical school, Dr. Attia graduated with a BA from Dartmouth College with a double major in chemistry and Arabic, where he won multiple awards for his work as a teaching assistant. Between Dartmouth and medical school, Dr. Attia worked for the United States Government for half a decade, an experience that shaped his perspective and strengthened his understanding of nontraditional pathways into medicine. He completed Columbia University’s Postbac Premed Program before attending medical school.
Dr. Attia has been recognized for his commitment to humanistic medicine and service. He received the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award and was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society, both honoring excellence in compassionate patient care, leadership, and dedication to service. He also served as Co-Chair of the Columbia Student Medical Outreach (CoSMO) Clinic, further reflecting his commitment to community-centered care. He served as President of his graduating class at VP&S, working closely with medical school and hospital leadership throughout his time at Columbia. Dr. Attia now works as a physician leader and Director of Scientific Innovations at Click Therapeutics, helping companies build innovative tools to improve healthcare.
As a counselor, Dr. Attia draws on his background as a non-traditional applicant and admissions committee leader with over a decade of mentorship experience to help students build compelling applications. Students he has mentored have gone on to earn acceptances at medical schools at Vanderbilt University, the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, Boston University, the University of Florida, and the University of Miami, among many others across 15+ states.
Dr. Attia is passionate about helping aspiring physicians navigate the admissions process with clarity and confidence, and his direct experience on both sides of the process makes him an invaluable resource for students at every stage of their journey.
