Dr. Hooks conducted clinical research as a research assistant at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Focusing primarily on nephrology and surgical research, Dr. Hooks received grants from the National Institutes of Health and National Kidney Foundation. She has over 12 years of research mentorship experience, guiding students in research across biochemistry, health policy, health economics, health services, and physiology. She also has experience mentoring students conducting research in cancer, tumor, cell, and integrative biology. Students who have worked with Dr. Hooks have been accepted to top institutions such as Columbia University, Harvard University, Yale University, USC, UC Irvine, and the University of Maryland.
Dr. Hooks’ career reflects a passion for both medicine and entrepreneurship. She has practiced as a hospitalist, founded a private practice specializing in medical weight loss and aesthetics, and now serves as Medical Director of a healthcare company. Her leadership extends beyond clinical work, through her work as a mentor at Pinnacle Business Academy, providing professional development for physicians and medical trainees alike. She is also the CEO of Phoenix Med Health PLLC, and is currently pursuing an MBA at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
